Re: My Scrivener anniversary

As you know I am not in good condition right now, my beloved Scrivener, but did you really think that would make me forget our anniversary? Never! Take this bouquet as an expression of my unquestioning devotion to you.

Eternally yours,

Barbara "Stan" Cartland

Re: Drag & Drop from DEVONthink

Just by accident I made a very interesting discovery: Like I wrote above, when you drag a PDF that is a web page printed to PDF from DEVONthink into Scrivener then instead of the PDF you get a web page with the URL of the PDF. But the stress has to be on "a" – if you drag a PDF then you do...

Re: Best way to block quote in 2.0

Page view is something different. Like I said, the ruler does change when you zoom. Zoom is like a magnifying glass you hold over the "paper" and the ruler and both look bigger when you look through it. When you set the indent to 1 inch this setting won't change if you zoom in. Only the in...

Re: Best way to block quote in 2.0

You set indents to a certain value, say 1 inch (or cm) on the left, right border of the text body minus 1 inch on the right for a block quote. These settings won't change if you zoom in or out. If the ruler is visible (cmd+R will make it visible if it's not) you can see that it is zoomed in or out t...

Re: Importing 11-page PDF into Scrivener document

This sounds very promising: PDF Import: the PDF Import extension allows you to import and modify PDF documents. Results with 100% layout accuracy can be achieved with the "PDF/ODF hybrid file" format, which this extension also provides. A hybrid PDF/ODF file is a PDF file that contains an ...

Re: Importing 11-page PDF into Scrivener document

You can not import a PDF into a Scrivener document and when you drag it you indeed get a Scrivener link. Converting the PDF into an image might do the trick but I don't think it's wise to do so with lots of images like in this case. Keep in mind that Scrivener is made for writing and not for the fin...

Re: Any way to limit formatting?

The pasting behaviour you are describing has nothing to do with Scrivener, it is standard Mac OS X behaviour. Under OS X the standard pasting (cmd+v) is rich text pasting (including font, font size, font colour etc.). Of course there is a way of plain text pasting too: cmd+shift+alt+v. The Scrivener...

Re: Inline Footnote Style changes to "default" randomly

I haven't seen anything like this before in Scrivener but I have seen some weird font behaviour that was not Scrivener related. To fix it or at least to rule out that your Mac has a general OS wide font problem I recommend you to download TinkerTool System: http://www.bresink.de/osx/TinkerToolSys2.h...

Re: Need help upgrading to 2.0

If the update from within the program does not work you might try downloading version 2 from the Scrivener web page. First, close all projects in 1.5, then close 1.5 itself. Download Scrivener 2 here: http://scrivener.s3.amazonaws.com/Scrivener.dmg Open the dmg, drag the icon to your programs folder...

Re: Converting quotation marks (single to double)

TextSoap is able to do this and the try-out version allows you to test it before paying. If they haven't changed anything the only limitation in the try-out version is that there are no context menu items. (The registered version allows you to create a theoretically limitless number of cleaners whic...

Re: Drag & Drop from DEVONthink

Thanks to both of you. I'm just making first steps with DEVONthink and I found a lot of good things but also obstacles like this drag & drop thing. "Promised files" to me sound a bit like "You promised me files but all I got was this lousy URL" … To work with linked files, as...

Drag & Drop from DEVONthink

Maybe this question belongs more to the DEVONthink forum. But I know a lot of Scrivener users are using DEVONthink as an information manager too so I give it a try here: When I drag content from DEVONthink into a Scrivener project that has its origin in the internet, Scrivener always "understan...

Guys, how can you expect from someone who is undoubtedly working to full capacity—or even more—as a professional writer who happens to know every other writer to be at least a hobbyist manual reader or to have a B. A. in Basic Human Interactions (in some countries known as "manners") too? ...

Re: A couple of questions (Scrivener v 1.54)

1) Right-click on any item in the binder and choose Label/Edit in the context menu. Not only you can add, delete and rename labels here but you can also rename the category "Label" itself. 2) If I remember correctly you have to add <$n> to the name of your chapters. For example you could n...
