Re: Comparative critique

Ah, sorry about that  Again, I'm no expert. In a sense I liked the second one better because it's more clear somehow. But at the same time, it feels to me as if it loses a bit of the poetic cadence of the first one. I realize this is not meant to be a work of poetry :) But personally, I was mo...

I'm not sure who the intervention would be aimed at...however, yes, I am procrastinating.

Re: Post-Encyclopedia

No, I haven't actually looked around all that much. However, I am interested, so I'll drop you a PM then, if that's all right.

Re: any more young'ins?

Well, then let me rephrase.

Are there any more people using Scrivener who write often and are around the ages of young-post grad browsing the boards? And who drink coffee copiously?

Re: Comparative critique

*disclaimer* a) I'm only 18, b) I've never been to China, c) when I read I pay more attention to whether or not I like it than anything else. However, that said...I like it. Your style is inviting and it drew me in from the first paragraph; I especially like your repeated use of phrases. It adds a p...

Re: Script Frenzy! From the people who brought you NaNoWriMo.

Is anyone doing Script Frenzy this year? I don't know what possessed me to sign up for this. I've never even considered attempting to write a script. I think I've read two. Anyhow, if you are, feel free to add me; my nick is the same as here, africanstardust.

any more young'ins?

Just wondering. I find myself on the boards daily now that my homework load has grown. Sweet procrastination (from school work), what would I do without thee?

Re: Post-Encyclopedia

That sounds very interesting...what made you decide to to this?

The closest I've come to this type of thing is to go from red meat obsessed to vegan. It lasted for about month, because all the food I could eat bored me, so I lost too much weight. Ah, well.

Re: The Kite Runner

I read it, despite my aversion to horribly sad books (ex Peter Pan ), and I thought it was fantastic. I have not seen the movie, but I've heard only good things. One of these days I'll get around to A Thousand Splendid Suns . Note: I just realized that placing Peter Pan and The Kite Runner in the sa...

Re: I <3 You.

Well, it's been a while. However, since apparently I will now be frequenting the boards, I must ask: what is this +3 business? Or do I not want to know...

Post-Encyclopedia

Maybe some of you have read The Know it All by AJ Jacobs, in which he reads the entire Encyclopedia Britannica ? It was quite funny, I thought - and besides that, you end up learning a lot of random facts you never would have otherwise. He came out with a new book, The Year of Living Biblically, in ...

Re: The Lion, The Witch and The *Snore*

Oh. I cry.   But I guess everyone is entitled to their opinions. I would like to say one thing in response to xiamenese. While some conservative Christians do shun The Lord of the Rings, there are many (myself included) who don't. Like all religions, there is a great variety of sects...

Re: Novel Excerpt

 :? Which one? I do suffer from chronic commatitis. Well, I actually meant your use of the ` as opposed to ' . :) Hmm. I'm no critiquing expert, but as a reader of...lots of things...I didn't like it very much. The combination of dry writing and what feels like an information overload for th...
