Re: Tree - a horizontal outliner

Two others to explore and compare: Ginko https://gingkoapp.com/ LitLift http://www.litlift.info/ Gingko looks nice; I would buy it if it were an application. But I'm too paranoid to use online word processors. Not to mention that 1 month Gingko costs about as much as Tree for lifetime. LitLift.info...

Re: Tree - a horizontal outliner

Yes. The difference the column structure means is incredible. I knew I had to have it when I saw the first screenshot, and I was not disappointed; it's a totally new "brainstorming feeling" in comparison with traditional outliners (like OmniOutline, for example). I recommend it.

Re: Using index cards as outline?

If it's only a question of finding the right place for a scene within three or four chapters, you can select more than one chapter folder in the binder (by keeping the CMD-key pressed) and have them appear as several corkboards, divided by thin lines. Then simply drag and drop "cards" betw...

Re: SCAPPLE: How to Make It Amazing

That's why I asked about Tinderbox. Tinderbox is not a mind-mapping software, but a kind of Scapple on steroids, with all kinds of automatic collection and ordering mechanisms for those who need it.

@yesto:
Some of what you wrote evoked the question for me whether you're maybe looking for a software like Tinderbox instead of Scapple?

Re: Draw an unconnected line ?

My workaround: I use to create 2 text boxes with "*" as text and connect them in order to get an (almost) unconnected line. Easy to handle and visually unintrusive.

Must have something to do with the file system. Some file systems don't accept colons as part of names.

Re: Plot? I'm LOST in the cards?

Don't start with chapter folders, start with only 4 folders named BEGINNING, MIDDLE, END and I DON'T KNOW. Put every card in one of these four folders and look whether they are starting to make sense (the I DON'T KNOW-folder is for cards you don't know where to put or whether to use at all).

Re: Better User Interface

I happen to know a lot of people in graphic design etc. who work with Photoshop, but I never heard any of them claim Photoshop to be beautiful . On the contrary, most comments are in the line of "yeah, it's butt-ugly, but there's no way around it" . And having a look on the screenshot, I a...

Re: Better User Interface

I ask myself whether the initiator of this thread maybe has overlooked the "compose"-functionality and it's many options? To create a "WriteRoom"-like interface should be a piece of cake.

Re: "Strikethrough" in Binder if "Include in Compile" Unchecked?

I do this manually by assigning a self-made icon (a simple dot, which was - until now - my idea of how a not-included document should look like), but I'd prefer to see it automatically. Great to hear that it's on the list! I could live with strike-through as well as with dots.
