Re: Notes, observations and suggestions

Just started assembling an Aeon doc for a new story, an arc of one of my comic series - figured a bit of real-world stress-testing might throw up some useful stuff. Which it has. Apologies if I'm duplicating requests from others here. - First, I have to say I've still yet to see any 'bad' behaviour ...

Re: Simple alternative to tracking revisions

I do this, too, for exactly the same reasons. It's one of the reasons I never really use the Snapshots functionality (useful though I'm sure it is for those who do!). And yes, labels for "progress state" (because they're visible in the Binder, unlike labels) makes it even easier.

Re: Adding new folders under folders

Jennifer, how exactly are you creating the folders? Are you aware that folders (and all files, in fact) can be dragged around in the Binder? You can also use cmd-ctrl-left (or right, up, down) to move selected files in and out of Binder heirarchies. Finally, holding down the alt key while dragging f...

Re: Institutions and Age-less characters

I was actually just thinking "Entity" as I read your initial post, Matt, before you listed the thesaurus results. So that's another vote for it here :)

Re: Notes, observations and suggestions

OK, I've had a play. Some more suggestions: EVENTS Double-clicking on an event should allow me to edit the title of that event inline. DURATION HIGHLIGHT It's very, very pale. On my MacBook I can barely see it. I know this is something you intend to refine anyway, just thought I'd mention it. INTERS...

Re: Aeon Timeline Version 0.1.2 (Beta)

Right, I've had a play :) OVERVIEW BAR It's possible to drag the bar out of view off the top or bottom of the time scale. In such cases, it should snap back to the upper/lower end of the scale. (It currently doesn't, it just disappears.) (EDIT TO ADD: I'm talking about the purple highlight bit withi...

Re: Great and worth app but...

Neither, it's actually because Pages is terrible at reading the standard RTF format. Keith can explain in more detail, but basically you need to use something else, like Word, if you want to export footnotes from Scriv.

Re: Notes, observations and suggestions

Thank you though - although a lot of these items reflect the immaturity of the program and places where I haven't given a lot of thought yet, or just went with the easiest available option to get the application out there, it is good to have a list of items to improve usability. Yeah, that was my t...

Notes, observations and suggestions

Right, then. First of all, Matt: as one of the initial people who egged you on to do this, and complained incessantly about the lack of such an app, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Once Aeon is ready for the public, I will plug it just as much as I do Scrivener. And while I'm no internet...

Re: Aeon Timeline Version 0.1.2 (Beta)

Isn't it just typical that I wait and wait for this app, and then as soon as I drop off the forums for a couple of weeks owing to work, the beta appears? ;)

Thanks for all your hard work, Matt. Downloading now, and testing forthwith.

Re: what size type, relatively speaking, do you use for editing

For scripts: 12pt courier, at 125% zoom.

For prose: 16pt Georgia (with 1.5x line spacing) at 100% zoom.

I agree, one of Scriv's greatest strengths is the ability to separate the drafting and exporting fonts/styles.

Re: Screenplay Workflow Oddities and Requests

In OSX, command-tilde (that is, the ~ key) switches between open windows within an application. Works fine in Scriv.

Re: Indenting question

While I don't have anywhere near the novel-world credentials of cw or bodsham, I'll add my voice to the chorus (and I'm pretty sure I've said this before) that I've never met an editor who cared about widows and orphans in the original ms copy. W&O is a problem for the designer/typesetter, not t...

Re: Introducing Mr Johnson (the shadowy "DMJ")

Excellent news - as someone else said, when you have so much work that you have to take on an employee, this is no bad thing :) David, one suggestion: currently your forum avatar is exactly the same as Keith's, and if you do plan on posting here from time to time that could be very confusing for tho...
