Martin

at the risk of stating the obvious: You did configure the hotkey for instant send (double fn or the like) in the Launchbar prefs under the "shortcuts" tab?

Re: Launchbar and an urgent request.

Mark you can freely choose your hotkey to invoke Launchbar, I use version 5 and am very happy with it, keep finding out new things I can do with it. It has a clipboard history, each item of which it can display using quicklook, very handy if you copied a bunch of pictures and need to find the right ...

Why, I wonder, do so many developers go for that category?

Yep. And task managers. Half of the apps under the productivity tab have checkmark icons.

Re: Journler - It's Alive!!!

So, where is Journler's place with Devonthink and Scrivener out there? DevonThink is where I store what I find on the internet and want to keep, just in case I need it one day. Scrivener is where I write. And Journler is where I think. I am keeping writing and thinking together so far. I am not try...

Re: Journler - It's Alive!!!

Anyone care to explain what they use Journler for? I evaluated it some years ago and found it a curious mix of interesting functionality but relatively poor scalability. I was effectively asking it to store the material that I was trying to organize. I found that Devonthink dealt much better with la...

Re: Pages or --?

I'll toss in Papyrus http://www.rom-logicware.com/ . Its support for tables is decent not great (although that alone makes it better than many so-called Word processors) and as long as you don't ask it to go too fancy it will do what you ask it to. It is very stable and the hybrid pdf format (viewab...

Re: TypeIt4Me, Typinator - what works together with Scriv 2.0?

I am not saying that I found the solution. I do say though that the following has eliminated the problem for me: Reset PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379 Reset SMC (for Intel-based Macs): http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964?viewlocale=en_US This MBP feels more responsive than ever before, now e...

Didn't I say just that? But it can't hurt to hear it twice and admittedly in better wording.

Re: Check out the new MacUpdate bundle

For me, the best thing about Default Folder is that if you have a Finder window open in the background, you can just click over where it is, and the Open and Save dialogue box switches to that window. It used to frustrate me no end to try to save something, and then spend an age navigating to some ...

Re: TypeIt4Me, Typinator - what works together with Scriv 2.0?

Andreas I am experiencing exactly the same, only I am using TextExpander. However, I don't think it is a simple cause-consequence relationship because sometimes everything is nice and dandy with TE running. Switching TE OFF alleviates the problems of general typing slowness so it definitely is invol...

Re: iPad as a writing/research tool

druid this thread served a useful purpose and attracted people's attention to the utility of the iPd beyond media consumption. But like Amber said, it became a little convoluted so starting new threads for well-defined new topics would help keep the information particles in a digestible size for peo...

Re: iPad as a writing/research tool

That was me who started that topic. :) The AlphaSmart weighs less than a pound, the batteries last for an hour, and it is really the opposite of the iPad With a battery life of one hour it would be an opposite along the lines of crap <-> at least usable for some things. I think you mean months or e...

Re: Where is my disk space?

ptram most likely there are other accounts on your computer which have some stuff in the trash. Log in as the other users and empty their trash and see how much you recover. The same applies to external drives, each volume has their own trash which under normal circumstances only the user with the c...
