Re: The joy of writing with an iPad

I'm a writer: conjecture doesn't have to be accurate. :P Briar Kit, your imagination works, as usual, very well! I use either hand to touch the iPad screen (for example when selecting). However, as far as the keyboard placement is concerned, I guess it depends mostly on the fact that typing in Ital...

Re: The joy of writing with an iPad

(but using Ulysses?? ) Works great with Scrivener! You just have to synchronize to external folders on both programs. It replaced WriteRoom for me. Ulysses works better with Box than Dropbox, but the former is excellent. Just curious, are you left-handed? Right-handed, with a hint of left-ha...

Re: The joy of writing with an iPad

I might agree the position shown in the illustration is ergonomic for a puppet, but I franky feel better in being able to reposition my display and keyboard as I feel comfortable. Something very easy to do with the disjoint display and keyboard allowed with an iPad. I can even stretch while still co...

The joy of writing with an iPad

Hi, I think I have to share this. This is my brute-force writing setup in the living room. Just a small iPad mini, a wireless keyboard, a writing app (in this case, it is Ulysses with an old-fashione theme, while awaiting for Scrivener). Minimal, easy, ergonomic, totally silent (apart for dogs barki...

Re: Why do you design for Mac & port to Windows?

I was thinking we were all writers, here, and that writers usually had something to do with fancy words. I've obviously several times run the risk of looking snobbish!

Re: Ulysses III

I add a couple cases about iCloud syncronization, as they happened in the latest days. - Syncronization between iCloud documents in Ulysses for iPad and Mac happened as soon as I opened the respective apps on the iPads and a Mac. - Syncronization from Mac to the iPads of the markdown styles happened...

Re: Ulysses III

Ioa, great news! I'll continue using the usual syncronization methods. I've never had issue with Dropbox and Box, so I'm confident they will continue to serve me well. Nom, unfortunately, I've been unlucky with iCloud deleting Notes and Safari bookmarks over the years. It happened just a few times, ...

Re: Ulysses III

I'm loving Ulysses. However, I'm hating more than ever iCloud. Apple has never been (at least, not in the last decade) very careful about customer's data integrity. Syncing between my two Macs and two iPads has been a nightmare. Sometimes, the files simply do not appear for several minutes and after...

Re: Who lives in the rarefied air of portrait/vertical monitors?

In the past, I was looking for a vertical orientation capable monitor. My current 24" HP monitor (LP2475w) is actually capable of that. However, in the meantime monitors have grown bigger and bigger, so now thay can easily display two full pages side-by-side. I no longer need my monitor to stay...

Re: Scapple for iOS

While waiting for Scapple for iPad, with the immediate simplicity of the Mac version, I'm trying to do the same with two apps: iThoughts and MagicalPad. The first one is the great mind-mapping software we all know. When tapping on the table, you have the option to create a freefloating element, that...

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

Ulysses […] unsuitable for longer pieces due to its all-in-one file format. Incidentally, I solved this issue doing this way: work in the MyMac/iCloud section, where there are all the advanced features. Then, from time to time, copy the document to the External Source section, that is any ordinary ...

Re: Future of Scrivener?

It's called not "managing customer expectations"... Back when I worked in software R&D with some customer facing roles our company's policy was we never ever talked about new product until we had the gold master in our hands and could release it to customers. Maybe misunderstandings a...

Re: Future of Scrivener?

I have no intention of removing collections, script mode, freeform corkboard, snapshots or custom meta-data […] It's less about paring it down that making things better integrated and less confusing in the way you access them (less cluttered menus and so on) I love this music! :) Now that I said th...

Re: Writing on an iPhone 6 Plus

I would love man purses return of fashion. They are incredibly handy. I have a beautiful, hand-made leather one, that I only use sporadically. Would I feel confident carrying it, it would solve a lot of problems with modern technological gadgets. Why are women allowed to use their purse, and men are...

Re: Italian interface is incomplete

The Italian translator must have made a decision to preserve certain international terms, I assume. While some English words are accepted in the Italian vocabulary, the examples given are really excessive. Since there are equivalents in Italian, I see no reason for using "label" instead o...
