Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

Well, I've sometimes used an iPhone 5 with the Apple Wireless Keyboard. Much more spacious than the old two-line electric typewriters. Much more portable (just bring the keyboard with you in your car - the phone will be already with you anytime). Anything bigger would go into the territory of modern...

Re: Version 2.7 - The New Icons

Fitch, Maybe you already know this, but you can magnify the screen with a simple key combination (it is Ctrl-slide up/down on the trackpad here). You can set this feature in the Accessibility system preference. Working in the magnified screen is as working in the regular mode, with no aliasing effec...

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

And then, after all this work, the first message appearing at the release will be a complaint for the look of the icons! :)

Re: Can I use Scr for layout instead of Word?

As a wordprocessor to be used for academic manuscripts, I would suggest Nisus Writer Pro. Many like and use Mellel. If I had to suggest a layout application for simpler book formats, I would suggest Apple Pages. Easy to use, quite nice in the layout and output options. However, for professional layo...

Re: Scrivener 2.6.5 Svelte Icons

I like the new icons and UI details very much! It' still Scrivener, but fresher and lighter. Very nice work!

Re: Where should writers live?

If only Roland Barthes had decided to remain at his family home in the countryside, without cars passing in front of his door, instead of returning at his office next to the crowded streets next to the Collège de France , we would now have his novel. So, living in a cul-de-sac is very important for ...

Re: Where should writers live?

I could see the home of Voltaire, in Paris, and it was also in a closed street. Balzac's house was in a very small street, where cars could not go. So, it seems the above statement is true.

Re: "ForceTouch" support on Macs.

I would use force click to add strength and expressivity to a sentence.

Re: Where should writers live?

My guess is that a (not-yet-so-successful) writer should live in a nice, inexpensive place, together with the beloved one(s). The place should be reasonably safe, with the type of life the writer wants to write about. So, it might either be open countryside, or the suburbs of a big town, or the resi...

Great to know! I hope it will work fine, since the rest of the machine (apart for the mirror) is an excellent writing machine.

Re: Best MacBook for scrivener?

Brett, I consider Spaces a separate, clean desk entirely devoted to writing. 1) Create a new empty space. 2) From Mission Control, drag there the Scrivener window and the research folders from the Finder. At this point, you have a place where nothing else can fall to disturb your work. It's exclusiv...

Re: Best MacBook for scrivener?

I admit that my new MacBook Pro (13" Retina, 2015) is giving me philosophical troubles. Up to now, I preferred to write with an iPad and an external keyboard because 1) the iPad was completely noiseless, 2) it was less prone to distractions, and 3) you could place the keyboard and display as yo...

Hi Den,

Thank you for the announcement. What's the best option to interchange work with Scrivener?

Re: What Makes The Lord of the Rings so special

Resonated in Tolkien's time, when the "nation of shopkeepers" held off the Third Reich, and continues to resonate in ours. Funny that the Italian neo-fascists have adopted the Lord of the Rings as their bible, sort of an initiation tale of the übermensch . Never understood why, considerin...
