Re: OCR to recover an old MS?

It should be mentioned that Mr. Ken Follett … swears by retyping manually the first version of his manuscript as a means to improve it. What I do, is to write my notes on a traditional paper notebook, and then dictate my notes to the Mac. When dictating, I get the opportunity to "rewrite"...

Re: What happened to Circus Ponies?

During the latest years, I've limited my use of CP NoteBook to be my GTD manager. Its SuperFind page, with all the due actions sorted by category, and its ease of syncronization with Apple Calendar, is great for this, and I can't see any replacement that I can like. I will probably continue using it...

Re: iThoughts and Scapple

I use iThoughts when I have to. But I wish there was a Scapple for iPad. It's my preferred brainstorming and idea sketching tool. Clean, direct, elegant, with no added embellishments. Maybe with Keith now playing on his new iPad Pro…

You may try f.lux. It helped me very much in tolerating the new 'Dazzling' theme used in the recent Macs…

Re: How to Sync between Ulysses and Scrivener?

Since Ulysses for iPad supports Box, you could put your shared external folder there, instead of Dropbox. They work more or less in the same way.

Re: Mac software for managing 10+ cross-referenced books?

I fear the only answer to Joy's requirements is Adobe InDesign. I use it everyday, and I've a love/hate relationship with it. It's nice, it's powerful, it's a pleasure to use – until it doesn't crash, as it does very often (without, however, damaging your files). I use version CS6, that is abandonwa...

Re: iPad Pro support for the upcoming iOS version

But we've got plenty of time to think about it, seeing as coding on 3.0 has ground to a halt while I get on with this blasted iOS version. :) Not too much time! As soon as you release the iOS version, we have to immediately start complaining for the delay in releasing Mac version 3.0! I like where ...

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

With a few simple tweaks I managed to get anywhere from 16 to 25 hours of battery time out of that thing. How?????? With my MacBook Pro 2015, I can reach over 19 hours. I turn off the antennas, close any app running in the background, and just use a light text editor. No keyboard backlight, since I...

What?!? Do you want we kill trees!!!

(I admit I do a lot of editing work with GoodReader on an iPad; but this doesn't contradict the idea that writing on a MacBook seems the most pleasant solution at the time).

Re: Ulysses III

As for iCloud working fine with Apple Calendar: no, sometimes I get a "server syncronization issue" message, or something like this, from Calendar on my Macs. So, Apple's own apps seems to have problems with it. But why despair? Apple will simply shut down the service, launch another, more...

Re: Paris in the 20s, Shakespeare & Co.

A couple times, I slept in the hotel over the current shop (Esmeralda, maybe?). I heard the place was much loved by Serge Gainsbourg, and the hotel attendant was William Dafoe (at least, he looked exactly like him). Last time I was in Paris, a few months ago, the hotel was closed, probably for renov...

Re: Why I need two computers

It's a MacBook, now. But you know: why preventing procrastination, by getting rid of multiple choices? So, it might be the iPad. Full size. No, mini. With or without external keyboard.

Why I need two computers

Hi, For years, I've only used a single computer for my personal writing and the everyday job. This meant that I ended my work day, left my studio chair, went to eat something, and returned back to the same chair to write my things. Dang! It was as if I was returning to work, after a day of work. All...

Re: Version 2.7 - The New Icons

While I have no issues with the new icons, I have with the content of my Editor window. But I fear there is very little L&L can do about it…
