Re: Aeon Timeline Version 0.2.3 (Beta)

Downloaded this today and I've been trying to create a simple timeline to check out the program. I'm in the final draft of a novel I've been working on and used it for my test of the program (as I did with Scrivener). In Timeline Settings, I put in August 23, 2007 as a start date and September 24 as...

Re: Spell Catcher on sale

I've done some searching on this forum, and there seem to be some problems using Spell Catcher and Scrivener together. Most of the posts I read are more than a year old, so I'm wondering how these two match up in current versions...?

Re: xkcd-wtf

Keith, Sorry for the misunderstanding. I've tried following a number of webcomics, but most don't grab me (I think having Calvin & Hobbes when I was a teenager spoiled me for comic strips). The only webcomic I read regularly is Sinfest. http://www.sinfest.net/ Although strips with God, the Devil...

Re: xkcd-wtf

Could you post links to some of the better ones? Thanks. I'll look through my bookmarks and pick some out. Most of what I've found funny and/or good were from a while back, if that says anything to anyone about it. Here's one (I'll get some more up soon): http://xkcd.com/430 ~kirk

Re: xkcd-wtf

I've been reading xkcd for a few years now and, although I don't always find them funny or even interesting, I can objectively say that it is nowhere near even the middle of a webcomic hierarchy list in terms of quality. My personal favorite reaction to any xkcd comic was Cory Doctorow receiving his...

Re: Well, folks, I did it.

You guys are all very sweet, and you make it all worthwhile. Thanks much. :D And to think that NONE of you has read a word I've written. True, but the important fact at this point is that you've written it. No one would ever be able to read what you hadn't written. I'm on a requested revision...

Re: Trim away the fat with Google Docs and DTP.

Although I have a Gmail account and find it far superior to other email accounts I've had dating back to my first in 1992, the idea of using Google Docs to write and store my work is terrifying. I do *sometimes* keep copies of my work there—spreadsheets that tracked submissions, for instance (but th...

Re: Another file just disappeared

On my keyboard, the Delete key (one of two) is next to the End key (as in Home and End), a key which I do find myself using quite often. On an older keyboard with the same layout as this one, I actually popped that key off so as to avoid inadvertant taps on it.

Re: Coffee and Writing

I was interviewed for a friend's school thesis on creative processes and was inadvertantly quoted as saying, "I only drink water and coffee. And occasionally rum." Not entirely true, but very nearly so (there's absinthe a couple times a year).... Ten-fifteen years ago, that would have been...

Re: Help with how to generate an orginal idea?

I don't agree about writing to please oneself. How many times have I looked in the mirror and thought, Dude, you are so hot. Then someone takes my photo, and it's Dude, you are so not! Writing is communication, using words to reach others. They are readers, not friends. They are busy, impatient, ve...

Re: Another file just disappeared

You can't "delete" a file with a keystroke. You can send it to Scrivener's trash, yes, where you'd have to then go to the menu or right click, elect Empty Trash, then ignore a warning and agree to empty the trash. I'm all for safeguards -- command-delete may well free up the time and band...

Re: Another file just disappeared

Hello, (first time posting, long-time reading) While I agree that the above complaints seemed bitter, I can also understand the frustrations of being in the midst of writing, thinking you've lost a piece of your work, and then losing time in a futile search. The lost time is nerve-wracking, tinged w...
