Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

Well, that's strange, because it works perfectly with me. I can check the settings for you in the evening and send some screenshots, because I don't have buttons or bars when I write with my external keyboard. You have to set the settings in the iOS Keyboard settings, not in Scrivener. But I'll sen...

Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

I'm not sure if I understood that correctly, but you can get all those bars away from your settings when using external keyboard. I tweaked the iPad's keyboard settings and I managed to get all those bars away. I have nothing but the page view (and of course the basic buttons on the top), no format...

Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

My biggest irk: as I type on the iPad, the buttons on the bottom of the Scrivener writing area change to reflect whatever context they detect. I find this VERY distracting. Strangely and frustratingly, when I click the “hide” down arrows on these bars, they reclaim their space as soon as I start ty...

May I ask why you can't write the second draft with iOS?

Advices for Writers

Everyone needs some advices now and then. Chuck Wendig share his secrets and here's one of them: "24. You Must Join A Critique Group. Stories are best when they are formed by committee. A critique group is an excellent way to ensure that your story is something everyone agrees on. Many bestsell...

Re: How do you keep your ongoing work safe?

I'm writing only in iOS environment. I'm using Dropbox and I also save my projects regularly in iCloud (Apple's File App) everytime when I'm making big changes or write something new. Everyday after day's work I also send my project as a .zip file to my email. With these three easy methods I'm prett...

Re: Indents and zooming in Scrivener vs. Ulysseus

You are aware that Scrivener is not a WYSIWYG editor either, right? That's the whole point of the Compile process -- to divorce what you see on-screen from what gets output. Yes, sorry. I used too loosely the word. But at least it's WYSIWYG for me when I make indents, paragraphs, aligns etc. and I ...

Re: Indents and zooming in Scrivener vs. Ulysseus

Thanks, guys! Now I understand that the Markdown wasn't for me at all. I thought I understood the basics through Tutorials, but now it's obvious that I was sooo lost. Call me an old fashioned fart, but I'm gonna stick with the clear world of WYSIWYG. I understand that Ulysses is great for people who...

Re: Indents and zooming in Scrivener vs. Ulysseus

Thanks for the reply! I did insert indents in the same way like I insert them in all word processors, through the editor and the software inserts the first line indents for me automatically. I don't use Tab or spaces or anything like that, I don't insert indents manually. In Scrivener iOS I insert t...

Indents and zooming in Scrivener vs. Ulysseus

I just wanted to share my little experience with Ulysses in using indents and zooming the text. By no means, my intention is not to criticize Ulysseus with bad intentions. Just letting out few remarks. I fell in love with Ulysseus, but the honeymoon was soon over when two things occurred: 1) I had p...

Re: Indent, inches and pt

Thank you so much! I was looking settings for novel manuscripts but I couldn't figure out the first line indents when using points. But now this is crystal clear. Thanks again!

Indent, inches and pt

Hi! I tried to search this forum and also to google, but obviously I'm not Mr. Robot enough. When I'm using the first line indent in my paragraphs, I'd like to have the first line indent to be 0.5 inches (around 1.25 cm). What pt setting should I have in the first line indent setting? 15pt? 18pt? Th...

Re: Using Scrivener for iOS for all or most of your Scrivening?

I'm writing all my texts in the iOS enviroment. iPad 2018 with Targus VersaVu case and Apple Wireless Keyboard (2011) and iPhone 6S Plus. I also have Samsung Galaxy Note 8 as a daily phone, so I'm using Evernote for notes for my projects when I don't have my iPhone with me. I don't miss anything fro...

Re: Regular manual backups and possible crashings

Does anyone knows if I can move a Scrivener's .zip file from iCloud Drive to FileApp to open the .zip file in there and then opening it in Scrivener? Yes, you can. As AmberV said, you can access the ZIP in Apple’s Files App. Long-press the ZIP > Move > On My iPad > FileApp/Downloads > Copy....That ...

Re: When I use iOS my images revert to full size

But if I add images to my project in my iPad and open the project in my iPhone, are the images saved in the project or in the devices? That’s a bit like asking if a paragraph you typed into a Word document is saved into the .docx file or to the disk. The answer is of course, yes . :) This thread do...
