What should be included in target word counts?

I use the little daily Session Target feature devotedly, but I would find it more convenient if I could include footnote text in the word count, and exclude block quotes (because footnotes are authored by me, while block quotes are not). In the Project Statistics options, I can choose to exclude or ...

Re: I'd like to see style attributes included in replace operations

This would be very convenient to have. Let me add that, as a second best solution, a 'Find All' command would be useful (do the unformatted replacing first, then find all instances of the newly added string and apply formatting to them in one go). I thought Scrivener offered Find All (seeing that i...

Overwriting earlier compiled output

I find myself having to grant permission for the PDF generated on compile to overwrite the previous output. It would be convenient to have a preference setting for always automatically allowing this or, alternatively, for automatically generating a unique name for the new file (thesis.pdf, thesis-1....

I'd like to see style attributes included in replace operations

When trying to replace 易經 by Yijing (with 'Yijing' in italics and the regular Palatino font, not the latin alphabet of the Chinese font), the result was not as expected. It turns out style attributes are not taken into consideration when doing 'replace' — I could have suspected as much when I was un...

Two small requests

Scrivener is hard to improve upon, excellent as it is, but I do have two small requests. ⋅  A search function in preferences. I find I have to click around a lot sometimes to locate the setting I intend to change. ⋅  An option to have footnote text included in the (session) word ...

Re: Spell checking language per project

If this happens, I would suggest taking it one step further (but it’s a big step, I’m afraid). I’d really like to be able to set a language attribute as part of a style. I’m writing in English, quoting German, French, and Italian sources. Next best would be the option to turn off spell checking for...

Re: Scapple still being developed?

I just discovered Scapple and quite like the app. On second look, I found that the last version came out sometime in 2017, so I'm wondering if its worth buying, considering that I'm planning to update to Mojave soon and have read that there are some compatibility issues. Thanks for your input. I ha...

Re: Create Customized Note Style

The default font family to use is specified in the “Document” tab of the Inspector. You can choose from any font on the system, and once you find one you’re happy with, you can click the Set as Defaults button to use that in future documents. It seemed a waste to start a whole new topic for this: i...

Re: Selection colour

Never mind... it seems this ochre horror is a variety of my system wide yellow highlight colour, uglified for unknown reasons.

Selection colour

Apologising in advance for what probably seems like a very silly concern (being an aesthete is a joy and a curse): how do I change the selection colour (the temporary border around a note that is only visible when the note is selected, at present a sickly ochre on my system)? I searched manual and f...

Re: Referring to a page number of a following document

Maybe there is a more sophisticated answer, but one quick (and somewhat imperfect) method would be to Split the doc with the target sentence in it at the nearest paragraph break before the sentence. Then use the technique you already know to refer forward to that document which has the sentence in ...

This is the one feature missing in iOS Scrivener that causes me to consider buying a MacBook after all for writing when not at home.

Re: Simplenote Syncing Gone in Version 3.0?

There are two good ways to keep a synced scratch pad type workflow with Scrivener, that don’t involve any particular third-party software [...] This works fine, of course, but perhaps the following idea merits consideration: if the Scrivener for iPhone main screen (showing the projects) would also ...
