Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

In terms of ergonomics, I personally prefer working on a laptop. I don’t think the Wish List forum represents most users. I constantly read (on the forum and in reviews), and I constantly hear, people noting that Mac / Windows Scrivener has a steep and difficult learning curve. The real question is ...

Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

From the article linked earlier: I think apps on the Mac have always been these large and complex and highly capable apps that are very broad. And I think apps on iOS by nature are a little bit more focused. They're highly designed. They're very much considered in what they do and how they do it. An...

The two post above have been moved from another thread by someone else. The title is not mine. That is not what I am proposing.

Re: IPad Pro 2018 support

The company website has long had a notice up saying that it is experiencing a high volume of tech-support requests, causing delays. Why not create a simple app that is easier for users to use and easier for the company to support? From the blindingly simple questions we see repeatedly asked on the f...

(Moved from iPad bug report thread)

We are conflating two issues here (syncing and future development), but hopefully people can deal with that. FOR STASIS 1. Some forum users (possibly ageing, and some open about having conditions that don't always welcome change) who are happy with things as they are. 2. macOS is currently more powe...

Re: iCloud Sync

I suspect that in time it won’t really matter whether Dropbox is the best solution for the current build of Scrivener or not: what will really determine the future is if Scrivener can maintain its marketshare while only offering Dropbox as a syncing solution. And perhaps even that won’t matter, as K...

Re: IOS 13

Thanks to all for replying. To Ioa: But if it was that simple... iOS does nested lists. At least Notes does. I agree that Apple is signalling its support for workstation apps: perfect for developers, photographers, film-makers, etc. I, personally, think that most writers don't need workstation-level...

Re: IOS 13

Hi, Ioa. Apple says that bringing an iOS app to the Mac will be as simple as ticking a box: Starting with Xcode 11, you can create a Mac version of your iPad app using UIKit. Configuring your app to run in macOS takes just a click in a checkbox. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/creati...

Re: When will Scrivener support iCloud (or the way around)?

Hi, lunk. I hadn’t missed the point. I was building from it. And I do think that iPadOS is transforming into a slimmer version of macOS and that its apps (on iPads or Macs) will suit the needs of most consumers, which is the largest part of Scrivener’s market. With some tweaks to the nomenclature, S...

Re: When will Scrivener support iCloud (or the way around)?

Reading more about this, a thought occurred. In many ways, Scrivener and Project Catalyst share a common logic and a common aim: to let writers write once and then publish in different formats, with only minimal amounts of refinement needed for each output. Perhaps it is fanciful, but I imagine that...

Re: When will Scrivener support iCloud (or the way around)?

Thanks, Katherine. Yes, I think the current limitations of iOS impede Scrivener for iOS. It doesn’t suit my personal needs, but I know people who have switched to writing on their iPads and who are happy. One of the biggest issues for me when using an iPad is the ergonomics of a touchscreen. If iPad...
