Re: Note to Beta Testers: Compile

Having read all the posts in this thread, I think you’re the only person who is being in any way rude; the original post included useful resources, was courteous and (to me, at least) very useful. Of course, I'm upset! I'm still furious how she treated my first posting the invalid epub-bug. She did...

First and foremost you told as we''d have no clue what we are doing.
Pointing to resources came as an afterthought to that.

Re: BUG. RC2 still creates invalid epub file

Is this also validating the tutorial or something else? I've used two different validators, One is http://validator.idpf.org, the other one is something of the garden variety. They gave both the same results. I can't comment my finds, just show them hoping the devs understand what's wrong. Pity is,f...

BUG. RC2 still creates invalid epub file

i saw something about epub in the change log. But it doesn't seemto catch everything. Just tested with compiling your tutorial and got the following result: +++ Validating using EPUB version 3.0.1 rules. epubcheck completed ERROR(OPF-027): tutorial.epub/OPS/contents.xhtml(27,60): Undefined property:...

Re: Note to Beta Testers: Compile

Please note that I am not part of the development team, and am not responsible for logging or fixing bugs. I simply observed that *some* posts about issues do seem to result from confusion about the new Compile function. Since I *am* part of the support team, that's an area where I can attempt to h...

Re: Covers not compiling to epub.

I had that issue too.
Then I found out the covers work different from 1.9.: Instead of inserting the picture into the file, named cover, I imported the picture. t the place of the cover. Then it worked. Well, two weeks ago with a former version.

AND they tell it, when they file a bug..

AND, they did not fix it in .21, though it's a serious flaw.

Re: Invalid epub bcause of ibooks

Aren't you supposed to file the bug i instead of joining a discussion about a workaround that doesn't even work with most e-book distributors? Me personally? Actually no, that's the Windows developers' job. But yes, posting in this forum is the way to make them aware of it. Katherine What do I know...

Re: Invalid epub bcause of ibooks

The whole point of the thread is that Smashwords is rejecting the file. So yes, Smashwords' preferred formats most definitely are relevant, since they provide an alternative way to get your work out there without waiting for a bug fix in a piece of *beta* software. Katherine Aren't you supposed to ...

Re: Invalid epub bcause of ibooks

No, their website says: Recommended: Upload a Microsoft Word .doc file, formatted per the instructions in the Smashwords Style Guide . Smashwords will use the Word .doc file to generate the multiple ebook file types listed in Step 7 below. That does not contradict that we DO have the choice, which ...

Re: Images

The folder doesn't need to be in Dropbox. And the files will take the same amount of space whether they're stored inside the project or not. Katherine It does, though, if I want to prevent to loose it in case of a PC crash. And of course it takes more space, when I need to have compressed images( fo...

The entirety of line 71, from <li> to </li>. That is, delete this line: <li><a epub:type="ibooks:reader-start-page" href="body.xhtml">Start of Content</a></li> . This is from a test compile of a test project; it had the same error in it. I removed that line from the file, and th...

Re: Invalid epub bcause of ibooks

Smashwords flagged it. that's why I went to look myself. Ah, but Smashwords don’t want you to upload epub files. They explicitly tell you to upload a Word file and then let their own software create the various output formats. That was a long time ago that we had no choice. Besides, it has nothing ...
