Re: Zotero integration please!!!

One thing to look at when you test the different softwares is their abilities to search for relevant litterature. I tested Bookends and it can't search e.g. Scopus or Web of Science, which are fundamental to my research. Papers can, and it is usually sufficient for my needs. As for exporting annota...

Re: Zotero integration please!!!

I would prefer to be writing than tracking down software bugs. Honestly: don't use Zotero. You get what you pay for, and Zotero is free/open source[1]. I do use Zotero to maintain a shared reference list with one collaborator, but it is painful to use compared to Bookends. Bookends was relea...

Re: Zotero integration please!!!

@Orpheus: I'm sure several people have mentioned you can get temporary citations directly into Scrivener from Zotero without needing to first do this in Word (see LewF's posts), so there seems to be something not working on your machine rather than this not being possible? All of this makes me glad...

Re: Zotero integration please!!!

This is discussion about Zotero not Bookends. But nontroppo's comment is entirely relevant. For instance, with Bookends: - In Scrivener, you set up Bookends as your bibliography manager in the Preferences. - In Bookends, you set Scrivener as your word processor in its Preferences. - In Scrivener, w...

Re: Zotero integration please!!!

I would like to inform that RTF/ODF Scan for Zotero is actually doing what was identified by the others as an integration with other reference managers. Except I can't can't get that to work. For a one page document it just spins its wheels and nothing happens. Until I can figure out what I I am do...

Re: Zotero integration please!!!

Could a Zotero user please explain exactly what it is that you would want from integration with Scrivener? I mean in a practical manner - you can already to use Zotero to insert citations and then scan the exported RTF or ODT file, so what would integration provide over this and what would you it d...

Re: Urgent: 75,000 word book in jeopardy

I have never had to rollback anything on Time Machine so I wasn't even sure how to do that. But thanks for the tip. In the Dock you will see the Time Machine icon (in Mavericks, which I'm still using, it is a green disc with a silver surround and a white circular arrow in it). If you click that, yo...

Re: Zotero integration please!!!

Well, it's actually just as easy as using Word, I think (I use both). You are just copying a citation from Zotero and pasting it into Scrivener. Whatever reordering or rewriting you do, it's all in place when you do your RTF export. It's really only an extra step at the very end. If I'm missing som...

Re: Urgent: 75,000 word book in jeopardy

I am on a Mac and have Time Machine. It was more important for me to figure out what happened to avoid, if possible, the complete corruption or disappearance of everything related to the dropbox synch. I agree with you on the backups. What saved me was where Scriv automatically backs up. I have nev...

Re: Zotero integration please!!!

It's actually incredibly simple. The trick is you have to have Zotero default output set to "RTF Scan." Then just go to Zotero, command-shift-C the cite you want and paste it. Then you output your Scriv file to RTF, and scan it with Zotero. It's well explained here (although this is a Win...
