Re: WhatsApp Replacement

In the end you will use an app that others are using otherwise who will you communicate with? Exactly. The average person will not be assessing (or probably give two hoots about) the detailed security angles. They'll be using 'wisdom of the crowds' / Sheeple effects, and ending up wherever their cl...

BTW, I assume this thread was pruned from another discussion, yes? Out of curiosity, is there a link to that one, just for context?

I believe this is the original source thread,

Re: Is Scrivener for PC worth it?

In other words SirPixel does not wish to engage in silly scraps, or to defend himself from unwarranted attacks or snide remarks, but is quite happy to have and continue a discussion. That is my interpretation of what I read. And I am not prepared to defend it :D In other words, signed up for the so...

Re: Scrivener vs World Anvil

I looked World Anvil over, not something I would be even remotely interested in. But Scrivener is the product I was looking for when I somehow stumbled on it a few years ago. It was love at first sight. After a cursory look at the site, I quickly decided I'd need a deep dive just to get a va...

Re: Buying Scrivener on Mac - any difference between buying on website or in AppStore?

Getting my head around how the Mac works (after thirty years on Windows) is challenging, but the little box performs very well. The detail about the possible drawbacks and restrictions, as well as benefits, of the Mac App Store were enlightening. I had no idea any of that happened. It may be time I...

Re: Buying Scrivener on Mac - any difference between buying on website or in AppStore?

Thank you both. Great answers, very useful info. It may be time I bit the bullet and learned QWERTY touch typing, since I'm on my last wired Dvorak keyboard and only one company seems to still make them. That would free up a USB slot with a combined wireless, or even bluetooth set. Back to learning...

Re: Is Scrivener for PC worth it?

From the World Anvil FAQ page: https://www.worldanvil.com/faq How is World Anvil different from Scrivener? World Anvil has little resemblance to Scrivener! Scrivener is an amazing tool for authors to write their work and organize it structurally. World Anvil is a system that allows you to keep infor...

Re: Buying Scrivener on Mac - any difference between buying on website or in AppStore?

Windows users should consider themselves lucky someone is interested in developing something for them Oh, don’t worry, we who are not the ordained of the Church of Apple bow and scrape at the altar of St. Jobs every day and do penance for our sins, aware of how unworthy we are and how fortunate and...

Re: Going to be brutally honest: this software is a hot bloated mess of jank.

I'm going back to Word and Bibisco. Perhaps, this is why you truly came here, to covertly plug another program. I'd say well-played, but it wasn't. It was ill-played, ill-claimed, ill-acted to shoot and run, to never actually provide anything you said you came here to. Salient point. Never heard of...

Re: Buying Scrivener on Mac - any difference between buying on website or in AppStore?

SNIP It must be out of the goodness of their heart that L&L are developing the Window's version. I hope they at least get a big payoff for all the trouble they have taken. It was an effort(s) by a Scrivener for Mac user, Lee Powell, to get things started. If you're interested, the genesis of th...

Re: Buying Scrivener on Mac - any difference between buying on website or in AppStore?

I always buy from the developers rather than the App store wherever possible. Although L&L have to pay Paddle, I think it's less than the 30% Apple charges on the App Store. Also, if you buy direct, upgrades—if and when they are available—come through more quickly from the website, as they don'...
