Questions About 'Research Files as Aliases"

This is a neat feature in 2.1. I was wondering though if there is a way to import-as-alias by dragging icons (like some combination of modifier keys plus dragging?). I tried a few combos and didn't get one that imported an alias as opposed to the whole file, but I wasn't very systematic. The reason ...

Should have said I WAS on 2.0.5.0, of course. I am now, as instructed, on 2.0.5.5. And the problem is gone. Thanks Keith, as ever.

Re: Add URL link...from keyboard

"Add Link..." can become "Edit Link..." - it's contextual (just when it changes title is handled by OS X, a change Apple made in Snow Leopard, and it can be pretty funky, saying "Edit Link..." when there is no link to edit). So, you'll need to add cmd-L as a keyboard s...

Re: An Outline That Accepts Imports and Moving Docs

Hi David, This would be quite a major code undertaking because of the way things are currently set up, but it's the sort of thing I might consider for 3.0. In the meantime, remember that you can use Reveal in Binder (opt-cmd-R) to show the current outliner item in the binder immediately. All the be...

An Outline That Accepts Imports and Moving Docs

I generally use the outline to organize/navigate my work, because it allows much more control over the order of documents than the Binder. But I sometimes stumble when moving documents about, or importing material, because Scrivener insists on using the Binder when I want to use the Outline. Two exa...

Re: Compile font instructions don't "stick"

The other mystery of mysteries is why I can never get double space. I override text formatting in the compile window, most certainly do NOT check "preserve line spacing" in options, and go down the levels saying that EVERYTHING must be line spaced 2.0. Yet inevitably the result is single s...

Compile font instructions don't "stick"

Trying to get a doc to compile in TNR font via the Compile instructions window. It looks right in that window's preview. But then, when I open the result rtf doc in a word processor, everything is in Courier. I hadn't noticed this problem before so I wonder if it is new, ie a bug? To be specific: In...

Re: KB’s Atlantic pieces (1)

Keith,

Just wanted to say the posts are very good, and I'm glad to see both your forms of writing, prose and software, get attention and appreciation. At the Atlantic site, you're in good company and you fit right in.

Re: Enter key to add reference

It wouldn't be difficult to add - the only reason it doesn't do this is that I thought that manually typing in external references would be the last thing anyone would want to do, as it's easier to drag things in or choose them from the "+" button... Hi, Keith, FWIW I find I often paste i...

Preserve media's 'play position' when navigating away?

Since 2.0 came out I've liked using Scrivener for transcribing interviews and talks. But I do sometimes have a hiccup: If I navigate away from my media file at, say, time 5:02, it is back to 0:00 when I return. I then have to do a bit of guesswork to align my sound file and transcript once again. Gi...
