Re: My new biography published

Thanks, Halleron. Yes, we're proud of the book, but I realized shortly after receiving my author copies that the real joy was in the actual writing itself -- after the research, after the organizing and plotting, before the citation checking and style tweaking -- just making that world come alive br...

Re: My new biography published

Thanks, JimRac! Lou wrote a lot of different kinds of music, from gamelan to percussion to orchestra to chamber to opera to choral and more. I usually recommend this beauty from the early 1950s as a starter but am happy provide more suggestions to my fellow Scrivenati.

My new biography published

I've been working on my coauthored biography of the great American composer Lou Harrison since before Scrivener was a gleam in Keith's screen, and I'm proud and relieved to announce that it finally emerged last spring, just in time for the centennial of the composer's birth, thanks in no small part ...

Re: To Stand or Sit?

Sadly, my lovely Apple Wireless Keyboard started switching itself off, or refusing to turn on, or disconnecting half way through pairing, and all our attempts to revive it failed. So I have now bought the Magic Keyboard instead, and it arrived today. I don't like it much. No idea why Apple have got...

Re: To Stand or Sit?

Thanks for reviving this thread, which inspired me to finally give standing a try. I'm luck to have a desk that has back that rises up to about chest level. That part of it has nooks for files, mail, etc. but when I put my old Cinema Display on top, it's the perfect height. The desk part actually fo...

Re: Importing multiple files

This is still the major annoyance that prevents me from going almost all IOS in Scrivener. Will iOS 11 now permit importing multiple files into Scrivener projects?

As an inveterate outliner/text chunk mover, I second, or rather fifth this request.

Re: Most bluetooth keyboards allow for shortcuts in Scrivener, some MIGHT not

Just spotted this old post when looking for info about the Brydge, which my SO is considering for when she buys the allegedly imminent 12.9" iPad Pro v. 2.0. I read some Amazon reviews that mentioned gradual failure to connect via Bluetooth. Anyone having any problems like that? Any other advic...

Re: MacBook Pro (retina): 2016 vs 2015—which to buy?

Thanks for the update, and so glad you wound up with a tool that's right for you, and a good value to boot. I bet that 15" screen is glorious. It seems that the 2015 MBPs have really retained their value, not least I imagine because of all the legacy hardware, like my old 24" Apple Cinema ...

Re: Keyboards for Ipad Mini 2?

this thread discusses some options. As I wrote there, I found the Logitech Keys-to-go to be ideal for use with my Mini2. Same footprint, and I love how silent, slim, and small it is when I'm taking notes in libraries or at lectures. In fact I kept using it after I upgraded to an iPad Pro. I recentl...

Re: Portable techniques

I almost never use Scrivener on my iPhone 5s. Screen's just too small, I use IAWriter or Apple notes for noe taking on my phone. I use Scrivener extensively on my iPad Pro, almost as much as on my Mac. A Bluetooth keyboard helps considerably, and you can find some so light and thin that it's easy to...

Re: Organizing notes across projects?

I just use text files in the Finder/Dropbox. As I centralize more of my writing in Scrivener though (because of the iOS version, which makes it easier to stay in Scriv than to deal with iOS's file management limitations), I'm contemplating just doing what was suggested above: making a general Notes ...

Re: working with publisher's editor?

I've posted about my unhappy experience with my publisher and coauthor's insistence on using Word elsewhere. In summary, it was a frequently frustrating tag team battle among Scriv, Word and Pages, with me being the loser. The big problem was Pages' inability to retain the endnote style used in Word...

Re: MacBook Pro (retina): 2016 vs 2015—which to buy?

Here's a comparison: http://www.cultofmac.com/457294/2016-macbook-pro-with-touch-bar-vs-2015-macbook-pro/ One thing I forgot to consider : if Scrivener someday offers Touch Bar support (I wonder what functions would go there?), that might provide another reason to go with one of the new TB equipped ...
