Re: Outlines in Scrivener

Wow, thanks, Brookter for that generously detailed how-to. I’m not the OP, but I may use it myself someday. But for me, it’s almost always better to follow Amber’s advice and create a multilevel outline using Scrivener’s Binder. As an inveterate outliner, I remember feeling a little frustration comi...

Re: Please, please stop using Files to import. It does not work.

Yep, happened to me a few weeks ago too. I was about to post a question in this forum but tried it again after a Dropbox update and it worked fine. No problems since.

Re: Do any of you keep ALL your writing in one project?

where your pieces of writing are related in some way, for example where they use the same body of research, or, say, they're blog pieces written in a similar style or on similar subjects, I'd keep them together in a single project. But where there's little or no reason to link them, I'd put them in...

Re: A one-tool toolbox?

Excellent question and thread. Scrivener has gradually expanded to consume more and more of my writing world. • Long form writing. At first, I used Scrivener primarily to write my nonfiction book and long form literary journalism, where its unparalleled ability to organize smaller chunks of info int...

Re: Using Scrivener for iOS for all or most of your Scrivening?

In the UK you can still obtain refurbed AWCs (on Amazon - I just checked - I may need one soon, because my existing AWC may be reaching the end of its life). But the Incase Origami looks like it may be harder to find. The actual Origami is no more but I’ve seen what appear to be similar knockoffs o...

Re: Using Scrivener for iOS for all or most of your Scrivening?

I’ve not used any of the smart connector keyboards, in part because of the cost, in part because Bluetooth has worked just fine for me, and in part because I believe turning the iPad into a laptop squanders one of its big advantages over a laptop: the screen’s independence from the keyboard. As a wr...

Published writers using Scrivener

Every so often, I’ll be reading about some writer who has a new book out or something and they’ll mention Scrivener, so I thought it be nice to have a topic to share those finds with other Scriveners. (Apologies if there’s already a topic here for this that I overlooked.) Here’s the first post in a ...

Using Scrivener for iOS for all or most of your Scrivening?

Since I got my iPad Pro and Scrivener for iOS, I’ve been doing more and more of my Scrivening on my iPad, and I’m curious to know how many of my fellow Scriveners are doing most or all of their writing in Scrivener for iOS. What are the pros and cons you’ve enountered? What else does the iOS version...

Re: Hardware: best foldy keyboard for iPad Mini?

I have seen several folding keyboards advertised online but never tried one myself. But I can second the recommendation for the Keys-to-Go, at least as a travel companion. It served honorably with my iPad Mini 2 and ior a year or so until I moved to the iPad Pro. You can usually find them for around...

Re: Fastest/most conventient way to call up research/notes?

That’s what I do too. I see you’re on Windows, which I’m not familiar with, but on Mac I just copy the relevant research info to the document note window of the file I’m actually writing. On iOS, it shows up in the inspector, as Lunk noted. If I’m starting on iOS, i'll sometimes do the same thing (t...

Re: What's Your Workflow For Your Wordpress Blog?

Thank you for posting this topic. Much of my journalism these days starts in Scrivener but most of my WordPressed work starts out in iAWriter, which integrates pretty easily with WP. Other WP-destined pieces start in Google Docs or Pages, for various reasons having to do with editing or collaboratio...

Re: My new biography published

Thanks, Keith, and thanks again for Scrivener! I know it started off as a fiction writing studio, but by listening to requests from customers like me, and expanding your own vision, you've made it evolve into an ideal tool for biographers as well. I'm almost tempted to write another one, just to get...

Re: To Stand or Sit?

It's been a month since I started standing for much of my writing, and here's that promised update. I'm now using the standing set up described a few posts ago for almost all of my actual published writing, which amounts to several hours per day, depending on the assignment and deadlines. As noted e...

Re: My new biography published

Thanks, Halleron. Yes, we're proud of the book, but I realized shortly after receiving my author copies that the real joy was in the actual writing itself -- after the research, after the organizing and plotting, before the citation checking and style tweaking -- just making that world come alive br...
