Re: iPad 2018 or iPad Pro 10.5" ?

And now with the 2018 iPad down to $230 on sale, and a much recommended Logitech or other bluetooth keyboard for under $30, and a good cheap case and/or stand you can have an excellent Scrivening set up for under $300. That’s pretty amazing! I took a look at the new iPad Pros at my local big box sto...

Re: Remove all Formatting

I copied a quote from a website and it carried with it the font, font color, size, and background color, but it still looked sort of funky after I cleared the text formatting. I'm guessing the 'page formatting' was still off somehow. Playing with the background color button clear it up. In any case...

Re: Scrivener 3.1 is going to be incredible!

Another happily unhounded longtime (at least a decade) Dropbox user here. I don’t remember ever being nagged to upgrade in all those years. Occasionally they used to send marketing emails a couple times a year, but I must have unsubscribed or something because I haven’t gotten one in ages. The free ...

Re: Scrivener 3.1 is going to be incredible!

Thanks for that suggestion. I agree that the greatest value of any scriptwriting program applies at the initial drafting stage, where the quick formatting saves so much time indenting, italicizing, etc. In this case, I did the entire first draft (in Scrivener), and now most changes are small enough ...

Re: Scrivener 3.1 is going to be incredible!

Having just completed the first draft of my first playscript in Scrivener this month, these changes arrive just in time! When printing out the draft to show our newly hired director, I spent probably half an hour exterminating widows and orphans (writers are so cruel....) and throwing in extra blank...

Re: iPad 2018 or iPad Pro 10.5" ?

Speaking of Zagg, this looks very promising. I’ve seen some reports of quality problems in Amazon Zagg reviews so might want to wait till after it’s been tested, but it solves one of the problems that my current set up (Apple Wireless Keyboard + Incase Origami) also solves: you don’t have to buy a n...

Re: iPad 2018 or iPad Pro 10.5" ?

My usage is similar to yours: most Scrivening is done on a Mac with Apple Cinema Display. My 9.7” iPad Pro is used when I’m at libraries, coffee shops, etc. I find the screen just fine for using Scrivener, though I’m sure I’d enjoy it even more at 10.5” or 12.9”. But since my iPad, like yours, is mo...

Re: Scrivener for journalists

I’m a professional journalist who’s used Scrivener’s Blank template to commit journalism just about every day for the last decade: previews, reviews, interview features, reported features (short- and long-form), essays, editorials, even a book. My usual reporting-organizing-writing method resembles ...

Re: Writing Keyboards

I’ve used the same set up for years. My old Apple Wireless keyboard, which I used to use with my MacBooks, is now the primary keyboard with my iPad Pro, often using my old Incase Origami keyboard case/ipad stand or (when at a desk) with the iPad boosted up near eye level by one of those little cheap...

Re: Which new iPad Pro?

Congrats to both Hugh and MamaLib on your new tools! MamaLib, you might want to check out Best Buy for sales on the MacBook Air. Recently they’ve been going for about $700 US. I’ve bought many refurbished Macs and other Apple gear, and all have worked perfectly, but at those prices, a new Air from B...

Re: How to protect an iPad Pro?

I guess I’ll advocate for the budget option. Amazon has a zillion cheap cases that seem to be about the same: plastic (translucent in my case) back cover and faux-leather folding front cover that turns it into a thre-way stand, like the official cover. They run about $15-$25. I got one from Moko tha...

Re: Macbook recommendations for Scrivener 3

Since storage capacity and power aren’t really issues with Scrivener, if price and portability are paramount, I’d endorse Katherine’s iPad or iPad Pro suggestion. The iOS version is usable as a sole Scrivener machine even without a Mac, and great as an adjunct. Slightly less portable , MacBook Air g...

Re: Mechanical, Dongle-free Bluetooth Keyboard?

https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/our-favorite-mechanical-keyboards/ Unfortunately, they don’t recommend the only two BT boards on the list. For now, I guess adapters are required. I’m still happy with Apple ‘s old Wireless Keyboard with my iPad Pro , which I’m told many prefer to its Magical, lower...
