Re: Scene Separators

I am amazed. It works just as you say except that since the Compile => Separators input boxes only show the last line, the input box appears empty. I was also amazed that on macOS the keyboard shortcut for soft-return or line-break is CTL+Return.

Thanks

Scene Separators

I noticed in a Kindle eBoom I was reading a nice thick dark gray line for a scene separator. I always have my kindle set to a "sepia" background because it is easier on my eyes. I am working on a Scrivener template that uses separators so I decided to use Adobe Photoshop Elements to make a...

Where do I find "Show binder titles in editor"

I have one project where my binder titles show up in the text area of the editor pane and another where they don't.
I have looked everywhere for the setting and can seem to find it. Needless to say, the search verbs of the forum or of the manual's PDF file weren't much help.

Re: Revision Mode

You were right, I had Compile => Transformations => Remove Text Color is checked. When I unchecked it the color did pass thru.

Thanks,

Revision Mode

I just discovered the colored text of "revision mode." I like it, but think it would be even more useful if I could selectively print it as well. Of course, I want to put it back to the plain black text for the final draft. I have searched, but haven't found how to get the colors into a PD...

Re: Feedback Wanted: How do you structure your Scriv projects?

Since I write light technical material, I use a template that supports: 1. Level-1 Folders as Chapters. Text can be located in the folder. A good place for an introduction to the Chapters. Binder titles = Chapter title. Numbering is hierarchal $<hn> 2. Level-1 Text documents for Front Matter. Binder...

Re: Images with Chapter Headings -- eBook

Amber, I just tried converting the PNG to an SVG using Inkscape. Amazon Kindle doesn't like transparency in any format. My SVG image looked just like the PNG one. As far as I am concerned this really makes using fancy chapter headings and scene separators pointless if they will look crappy on sepia ...

Re: Images with Chapter Headings -- eBook

I tried PNG-24 with transparency. In an EPUB it looks correct with iBook and Calibre readers on my Mac. On MOBI the transparency appears black and the image inverted color wise on both Calibre and Kindle on my Mac and also on my IOS device. I am betting that someone in the food chain Scrivener, Kind...

Images with Chapter Headings -- eBook

I found a really good looking image to use on my Chapter Headings. I am publishing as both an eBook and paperback. Since eReaders can have white, sepia, or black backgrounds, I figured that I should export the image as either a GIF or JPEG format. When I tested this PDF looked great with any format....

Re: soft return

Both suggestions act the same as a plain return on my Mac inside of Scrivener.
There should be a handful of other special typography characters, such as soft-hyphen, non-breaking space etc.
I have Google the heck out of this but haven't found an answer yet.

soft return

In MS Word the key-combo of Shift+Return called soft return will give you a new line but not a new paragraph.
Occasionally this is useful. I have searched the Docs and can't find any mention of this in Scrivener.

Is there a "soft return" in Scrivener?

Re: Arrow Key oddity

You are exactly right. Between some of the characters is one that is invisible and has not width. I carefully arrowed my way thru the text deleting these invisible characters. There was no visible change, but I could then move thru the text using arrows.

Arrow Key oddity

I was testing a font to see if it had all of the characters I was interested in. I entered the following: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz 1234567890 ‘‌?‌’‌“‌!‌”‌(‌%‌)‌[‌#‌]‌{‌@‌}‌/‌&‌.,:‌;§¶–…—¿¡«»‹›‌‌ ®‌©™‌ $‌€‌£‌¥‌¢ <‌-‌+‌÷‌/×‌=‌≈>‌°∞±≤≥∂∑∏...

Conflicted files

I have been playing with Scrivener for IOS and like what I see. I watched the video on sync'ing and it seemed simple. While playing I was told I had "conflicted file" and a directory was created on each machine. The file in one was blank on the other it was the entire document. No conflict...

Fonts for IOS

All my existing work on my Mac is done using Google's NOTO fonts (Sans, Serif, & Mono.) These show up well on screens of all sizes and look ok when printed on my lasar. They don't exist on my iPad. If I edit a document on Scrivener for IOS it uses Helvetica--- not my favorite. After a sync, I no...
