Re: Scrivenings issue

Indeed, but that doesn't make sense. If I select the unexpanded folder, then the two child docs are displayed – exactly as you'd expect with scrivenings. I've only included one folder here, but in my draft I have many folders. I can select one folder after another and things work as expected. Howeve...

Re: Scrivenings issue

Select New Folder and text: only the folder's text and text's text are shown and counted. My expectation is for the sub-docs in the folder to show and be counted. ... and you have clicked on the Scrivenings mode icon to set it to show sub-documents and not only the current? Yes. Are folk not seeing...

Re: Scrivenings issue

Any difference if this setting is toggled on / off? Nothing unexpected. (I expect the cause is some setting or combination thereof, though.) Here's an example project. Click draft: all text is shown and word count is 1,449. Click New Folder: all text is shown and word count is 967 (+ text @ 482 = 1...

Scrivenings issue

I'm finalising a draft. Under the Draft folder, at the top level, I have five folders followed by a text "file". When I select the five folders in scrivenings mode, I see all the contained text, and the word count and stats in the footer. This is good. When I append the "file" to...

Re: How do I get rid of this ridiculous left margin?

Preferences/Appearance/Main Editor/Options

Sounds like you want to switch off the fixed width editor. However, margin control is also set on that same preferences panel.

About 3 Mb. I keep files outside the project file by using Insert image link to file, mostly.

Re: Seeking Advice - Apple or Windows PC

MBP, because It has a much better screen.

Screen quality is my #1 priority. I'm not fussy about keyboards; I'm adaptable with my digit down-presses. Disk, memory are all sufficient on modern machines for writing – unless you capture 100s of Gbs of research images and audio, I guess. YMMV, of course.

Re: Is Switching From Windows To The Mac Easy To Do

I have a MacBook Pro and hate the trackpad. It was the first big hurdle, improved by fixing it so it no longer scrolled in what is to me a backward way, and fixed by sticking a real mouse on the machine. Sure, although it is an option, so not difficult to change. I'd be lost without easy access to ...

Re: Is Switching From Windows To The Mac Easy To Do

Easy is relative ;-) I’ll offer some unrequested advice, though. Allow a couple of weeks for your initial frustrations to disappear. For all the claims manufacturers make about being “intuitive”, it’s all rubbish, and things must be learned. Don’t try to bend macOS to “do it like Windows”. Here be d...

Re: Visualizing search results system preferences style

This is a great idea. It would also be useful with Collections.

In addition to cards, a kind of scrivenings mode would be my preference. For each document, display n-number of lines around the found text.

No problem. It's hardly a deal-breaker. Thought I'd report it, since I found it.

Composition mode: Quick Reference windows changes monitor

With Float Quick Reference Panels active: In Composition mode (on the primary monitor) with a Quick Reference window open on a second monitor, if I switch apps – say to the macOS dictionary – with Cmd+Tab then switch back to Scrivener, then the Quick Reference window jumps to the primary monitor. (O...
