Re: Couple of things I've noticed...

I get hit with these too (the first and last). The Binder width is retained when you quit non full screen. It seems to get messed up when you quit from full screen; which then reopens in non full screen, and you have to fix the Binder width again. The workaround is to exit full screen before exiting...

Re: Worflow question: handling ideas that pop-up during writing

For short notes, I mainly use TODO: wrapped in an annotation, along with a saved collection based on TODO: I often simply create a new document and place it in the draft close to where the idea might be needed. By not adding a title, these notes are easy to spot in the binder. If it's an idea that m...

Re: Why Scrivener

One thing I don't use is the Rich Text editor features because I write in Markdown or plain text. I use markdown (MD) in my note-taking app, so I'm comfortable with it – I use a lot of LaTex too, but that's another story. Rich Text gives us many features that would be extensions to MD. Seeing empha...

Re: Wonderdraft: Fantasy map creation tool

though I actually do want the latest model air I bought mine mostly for writing. I was considering an iPad+keyboard combo, but the MBA is perfect – just the 8/128 base model (which I got for 1,000 + change). I sync everything via iCloud (which iOS Scriv doesn't [yet] do) including Scriv's preferenc...

It runs okay on my newgen MBA, which it pretty low spec in the graphics department (integrated Intel UHD Graphics 617).

I would expect older hardware to struggle with it, though.

Re: Wonderdraft: Fantasy map creation tool

It looks pretty easy (relative to from-scratch PS/Pixelmator techniques). What do you think about it relative to more general-purpose drawing/touch-up tools? Given that my map-making and graphic tools kills are terrible, I'm probably not the best qualified to provide a useful answer. I did find I c...

Wonderdraft: Fantasy map creation tool

I recently bought Wonderdraft: a map creation mostly targeted at the Dungeons & Dragons crowd, but flexible and extensible enough to draw modern maps too. Thought folk here might be interested. https://www.wonderdraft.net/ You can find a lot of examples on their reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/...

I've never written any sort of Western-type stuff and would welcome the opportunity; though I suspect I'd go off-piste. Just the opportunity to use spittoon in context is a pull.

Re: When to quit...?!

If it's a first draft, then I'd blast through to the end, writing in some form of shorthand. (I presume you know your ending by now, and you're writing towards it.) For me, consistency comes from the second draft (rewrite), which I do via each POV – if you have only one POV, then this should be easy...

That's fine. Except for Westerns.

Go Westworld on it. A bit sci-fi or fantasy.

There's a thought: a Western with dragons. A sci-fi Western is just The Matrix.

Good for me. I'm happy writing anything, tbh.

Re: Hook, a new file-linking application

I've been keeping an eye on Hook. It certainly looks interesting. I haven't tried it yet, mainly because it's not been priced (post-beta), and I don't want to get into only to find that it's overpriced, or worse, subscription-only. If you have given it a trial, please post your findings. I'm certain...

This is a fascinating question, although very broad. Could you somehow narrow it down a bit?
