Re: Advice needed on storage / backup options

Sounds like you need a NAS . A recent review of such. Some routers allow you to connect a disk and use that as a NAS. For example, I have a Apple Airport router with a 1Tb drive attached to it (bought years ago for ~£50). The disk is accessible by all Apple devices (MBP, iPhone, iPad, AppleTV). I su...

Re: No longer "prints" to Scrivener

The option is Save PDF to Scrivener which adds a PDF to the Research folder of the open Scrivener project.

I just tested this (with this page in Firefox) on latest Scrivener and 10.13.1, and it worked okay.

Re: Anything to share about Scrivener 3.0?

Scrivener 5 is a bit buggy, I'm finding. I tried the Hemingway voice on my novel, but it's a little too staccato for my taste. The Atwood voice, while decent, seems a mite overaggressive with the misogynistic male voices; though it did present some interesting insights on close inspection; the femal...

Re: Project Won't Open-HELP

One thing you can do is peek inside the Scrivener project. In your shoes, I'd feel reassured if I knew my work was still there, albeit in a state that Scrivener wasn't happy with. This won't fix anything, but it might give you some peace of mind that all is not lost, which is the worst case. I shoul...

Re: Project Won't Open-HELP

First of all, you can retrieve your latest backup. If you don't know the backup location, you can find it in Preferences/Backup . If you've lost a lot of work since the last backup, then I suggest you either wait for someone from L&L support to come along or -- probably better -- write to them d...

Re: Frozen Project Targets

Check the Project Targets options and cross-reference them with the settings of the files and folders in the Binder. The behaviour you are describing sounds like an Include in Compile may have been unchecked somewhere.

Re: Sync questions

lunc, I believe you are missing a third item to your list: expectation based on experience. (Some of which you covered by macOS and Windows differences.) For example, there are many Apple apps that sync via iCloud — both behind the scenes (e.g. Contacts, Notes, Reminders, iBooks, etc.) and via iClou...

Re: Hide ruler?

The oddness might be because you must have the cursor in the document to hide and show the ruler. If the Binder has focus, for example, then it won't work/toggle. I only discovered this via experiment after reading the above. Interestingly, if the cursor is in Document Notes , then cmd+R will toggle...

Re: Mis-capitalization after "i.e."

This is due to Preferences/Corrections/Auto-Capitalization/Fix capitalization of sentences being checked.

I leave it unchecked for a bunch of reasons. Yours is one of them. I live in my own personal Wild West.

I rebooted into Safe mode, and the problem was there too. Here's the system.log output from the crash: Nov 2 12:48:58 MBP Scrivener[495]: /BuildRoot/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/AppleFSCompression/AppleFSCompression-96.1.1/Common/ChunkCompression.cpp:50: Error: unsupported compressor 8 Nov 2...
