Re: Comments not displaying (S2 vs S3)

If I click through the docs in the Outline, then all the other Inspector modes change to reflect the document; all except comments, which do not display until the doc itself is clicked. Clearly, this is expected behaviour on Scrivener's part, but I don't understand it. As I mentioned, I'm going to u...

Re: Comments not displaying (S2 vs S3)

I beg to differ. The text/document changes, so it is displayed, but the Inspector doesn't change until the document has focus. This is what caused the confusion in my case. That and the fact that the "mode" changes when using the Outline for navigation. It's different to S2 because of the ...

Re: Comments not displaying (S2 vs S3)

I see what's happening now. First, default layout: In scrivenings mode: Comments display in all cases. In outline mode: Comments don't display for folders, although other Inspector items are updated – I believe they should. Comments do display when a document is opened (via Binder). Second, three-pa...

Re: Comments not displaying (S2 vs S3)

Ah, mea culpa. I had outline mode set for groups. I think I didn't notice because of the improved navigation options and because there's a kind of fourth mode when using linked editors. I can make things work, but it can mess up the linked outline editor when clicking the Binder. I'll mess with it s...

Comments not displaying (S2 vs S3)

In S2, comments are listed in the Inspector for folders selected in the Binder and, indeed, the whole draft (scrivening-like). This no longer works in S3. No comments are displayed. Since I use this an awful lot – both at chapter and draft level – is there a method for displaying comments in S3 for ...

Re: Unwanted multiple selection forced; can't display single document.

I didn't know about that option. I just tried it. It's quite brutal! However, dead easy to get back to a working state now with layouts, etc. That brings a warm, fuzzy feeling of confidence. :D

Re: Unwanted multiple selection forced; can't display single document.

It's early days, but I'm still not clear which "navigation mode" I'm in at any time. Since I'm still exploring/playing, it's not a big deal, but sometimes weirdness happens and my way out is to Clear All Navigation Options and load my default layout.

Re: Chapters, Front & Back Matter Missing in Compile

A nice aide-memoire comes from Garner, who puts it thus: hyphenated as an adjective, unhyphenated as an adverb. Hence, "Once the log is brought up to date, we will have an up-to-date log."

Re: Smart dashes and Ellipses

The "smart quote" has got a bit out of hand. It's almost a em-en-dash now. I prefer to use alt+hyphen (and alt+semicolon).

Ah ha! Thanks.

It wasn't working for me due to multiple monitors -- and an inability to track down the pref. It'll be handy when I'm unplugged, though.
