Re: How to get chapter headings/breaks to show up for Kindle/mobi compiles?

You have to be sure that the proper section types are being assigned to your chapter documents, and that those types are being assigned to the right section layouts at compile time. When you bring up the compile window, the types are displayed on the right, and the section type assignments are displ...

Re: New User - Exactly How To Transfer Projects Between Machines Using USB, Please?

Projects can be placed anywhere on your hard drive that you can read and write to. Scrivener doesn't care where you put them. But do always avoid writing any kind of document to the Program Files folder(s) just off the root of the C:\ drive. (Some people have been known to put their projects directl...

Re: 95mb file size for 100,000 word .scriv file

Glad it was an easy solve! FYI, with Scrivener auto-saving changes whenever you pause for a couple of seconds, there's no need to hit CMD-S to save. It just happens. I'm assuming (again) that you had snapshots set to be created whenever you used the "save" shortcut, and you did that freque...

Re: Problem: Chapter headings aligning to the left.

Based your question and some guesswork, it sounds like you may have transitioned from Scrivener 2 to 3, and haven't adapted your settings to Scrivener 3's new compile setup. My answer is based on this assumption. If I'm in error, please provide more detail about what may have changed between your pr...

Re: 95mb file size for 100,000 word .scriv file

There's something going on here, because I've had several projects with tones of images, pdfs, etc, and they only added up to 50-60MB. Text-only contents at this scale should be far below 10MB, probably less than half of that. Do you create lots of snapshots? Every document snapshot is a complete co...

Re: Can't seem to get the beta to see scrformat files.

Glad you sorted that, and hopefully they'll add meaningful failure messages when it doesn't override existing formats... but why didn't you just save it to "my formats" from within Scrivener to make it available to all of your other projects, instead of going through the export/import proc...

Re: Upgrade from 3.1.2 to 3.1.4 destroyed notes, files, editor settings

Just to cover all of the possibilities, I wanted to make sure that you didn't just download the .scrivx file from dropbox.com via your web browser... did you? If so, that would mimic some of your issues. Not the titles issue, but definitely the lack of notes and text.

I'm not with Lit & Lat, but are you able to install other apps onto your ipad that you paid for and use on your phone? I found this article that helps trouble-shoot issues that have to do with getting apps installed for the same apple id... maybe it will help. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT2...

Re: Passive Verbs?

I've observed that concepts like, "Never use adverbs!" and "Never write in passive voice!" are for students who need to learn lessons that they won't unless given strict guidelines, where infractions against those guidelines risks a reduced grade. They're good exercises, but as w...

Re: Moving / importing from old mindmap service to scapple

You can import some mind map formats into Scrivener, which is hierarchical though. And you can drag note cards between Scrivener and Scapple. Maybe try doing that with a blank Scrivener project and a blank Scapple project, and see how it goes?

Yes, it works great on Mojave. I'm using it on my Mac (still on Mojave for the foreseeable future), and haven't seen any issues.

If you can't get the updater to work, quit scrivener and download from the website: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener/download

Re: How to collapse chapter titles, and move any section to another place in the doc

To be clear, going by the title of your post, there is no "collapse" of chapters or paragraphs the way that Word does it. If you find that you move paragraphs around a lot, and may change your mind periodically, you may as well get used to splitting up your chapter around any paragraphs yo...

Re: Feedback wanted: Integration with Aeon Timeline

Aeon Timeline does the integration, and it uses custom metadata to store dates and other synchronized information. You should be able to go to outline mode to add those dates as columns.

They are in the list, but you may have to scroll the drop-down list to get to that combination. You're looking for "Win + iOS", by the way.

Re: Adaptation to small screen for compilation (beta 25)

I agree it's better for an application to be responsive to the screen size, but you can resize from the top, then drag the window up to reveal the bottom. My compile window appears to be capable of being shorter than yours--you're not having the issue where it can't be resized at all, are you?
