Dashes issue re-emerges

So I'm typing along, and for some reason I need a series of dashes in the text. so... I type a series of hyphens, expecting to see every two hyphens convert to an Em-dash. Nope. First two stay there (expected), type the third, the first two form an Em-dash, the third is beside it (still expected). T...

Re: New beta seems to be seriously laggy

I started a completely new project in the Beta, didn't copy anything. I still get noticable lags even when I just jump from one 1000 word scrivening to the next. If I try to view my whole manuscript, I have to wait up to 30 seconds for it to load. It's almost as if the Beta loads the whole project ...

Re: [NB] File Directory Corrupt Pop Up Window

One question, what steps are you suggesting exactly when you say "clean up beta directories?" After you've uninstalled the old beta, go to the folder in Program Files where you had installed the beta and confirm that nothing was left behind by the uninstall. This is not critical, just sug...

Re: Inline annotation bug?

Is your file perhaps a conversion from version 1.9.x? Nope. I can't make an inline annotation work properly, but it did work once. I wrote brand new stuff in beta 10, highlighted it. Got only 1 line. Very odd. I wonder if there's a setting somewhere? I can't find anything that'll cause that (tried ...

Re: Scrivener can't compile any format

I have the latest Windows Beta version 2.9.0.10 and when trying to compile to any format, the compiler gets to 99% and then the program crashes and closes. I've tried to compile to Mobi first, and then to other formats including Word and PDF, but it crashes for all compile formats. Following a Scri...

Re: [BB] File Directory Corrupt Pop Up Window

This configuration has been in place for many many weeks but only in the last week did the PopUp pop up. I'll repeat what others have said; this looks like a disk error message. Scrivener does back up your writing. However, given this error, I would (outside Scrivener) copy the writing directory(ie...

Re: Rebuilding search indexes. Please wait - Stuck at 36%

So today, it seems to take even longer to open, but eventually does and allows me to send about 50 pdfs to the trash folder. However when I went to delete them from there it gave me the usual " this is permanent" message, let me click to proceed and then promptly closed. I have tried to t...

Re: UI "bug": Columns Button on Outliner is ">" when it should be "..." or a cog

True, it's under the header bar, but arrows do tend to indicate navigation functions, as the OP mentioned. Not sure what icon would replace it though. Three vertical large dots, maybe?

As it is, I'm okay with it.

Re: New beta seems to be seriously laggy

I will try copying/pasting all folders, you mean from one project window to another project window? What about the notes and all other stuff, are they going to be preserved? I think all the meta-data came over, including comments, footnotes, etc. I opened a new project, selected everything in the b...

Re: [Bug] Bad spelling corrections for dict "Norway-nb" and special characters

I just came over from the Mac version of Scrivener, and cannot remember reacting to the spellchecker when I write Norwegian text. But the dict used on the Windows version at least is seriously lacking, e.g. the correct "forstod"/"forsto" ("understood") is missing, or a...

Re: Working with large *.scriv folders

I have a Scrivener project folder which I have been using for the past ten years or so as a repository for notes concerning the various sources that I work on as a scholar. This has always worked well. By allowing me to organise, edit and look up information in one and the same interface, Scrivener...

Re: Bug: Outliner. Deselected columns show / column lists not equal / deselect in View | Outliner columns unreliable

Hello! Sorry for the long delay in responding to this. We have since fixed a bug where custom meta-data was adversely affecting which columns were displaying, regardless of selection. Now that that has been addressed with the most recent beta version, are you still experiencing this? I pulled up on...

Re: Inline annotation bug?

Using beta 10 I got this on an inline annotation. I think the box should not be limited to 1 line. The example in the online tutorial shows it with multiple lines. Odd. I select multiple lines, mark them as inline annotations, and multiple lines are &q...

Re: [Suggestion] [UI Change] Hoist Binder and Outline

Click on a folder, choose "hoist binder" and Scrivener hoists that folder, showing it as though it were the whole binder. I think "hoist" is the correct word for the command, but "binder" is not. At least, the behavior of the command is what many outliners describe as &...
