Re: Dropbox and Your Copyright

just my personal opinion Creative work handed over to one of the worst data miners in history. Ridiculous. To quote from the DropBox service: For our advanced users Dropbox files at rest are encrypted using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). Dropbox uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)/Transpor...

Re: Just Scrivener on a very low-powered Windows laptop

Low spec? Small hard drive? Small RAM? I don't think there's any possible reason to be wary of a so-called "low spec" modern laptop running a clean Windows install and Scrivener. Consider: I have an ancient Dell 5000 laptop (with a really nice 15-inch screen...its key redeeming feature) wi...

Re: Linux 1.9.01 Beta Released

I'm able to run Scrivener for Windows 1.9.6 very nicely under WINE on a Debian linux variant, stable version "Jessie." WineHQ has released a script update that links to their continuous updates, which helps. The recent improvements in Scrivener are worth trying out, if WINE works for you.

De-bloat de bloat: nano + markdown => pandoc => ePub. Salt, season, & distribute.
OH! Scrivener? Repository & Reference.

Re: Writing Markdown in Scrivener, exporting as ebook?

Hopefully I am just missing some tickbox or something - can anyone advise how I go about exporting my markdown text into 'formatted' text in this way? I'm using Scriv 2.5 on an earlier Mac system, but I don't think the compile function has changed all that much. Here's an approach to try. Use the M...

Re: Problems with Manual Download

Simple. Go to the L&L opening screen, check the "Products" menu item, and choose Scrivener. Go to the Windows section. There's the big Download Scrivener icon; that's the latest version. Don't worry about the "Demo" tag. It's the full version. Download it, install it, and it ...

Re: Scrivener & Wine - file locations when creating new projects?

Any ideas what this is about? Umm... not specifically. I'd do a little testing, something simple such as using a text editor like Geany or Mousepad or whatever you have handy. Try writing a file to that location. Or first, use your file manager and navigate to that location, and try creating a fold...

Re: I love Scrivener - but I'm too scared to use it

I cannot afford to keep opening my project only to find a skeleton of Chapter and Research titles but missing the actual documents - full of blank pages. Sorry, but that is a strong clue that either Scrivener or the computer is being closed/shut down before file synchronization has had a chance to ...

Re: Suddenly, unable to read from Backup file

We have this situation at all times, and can only unzip or open backup files from the appdata location by saving them to another drive and then renaming them. Then Scrivener will open them. Have you set a more convenient backup file location by going to menu "Tools" then "Options&quo...

Perhaps try using the (filename).md.txt extension? That's a fairly common markdown identifier.

Re: Problems with Manual Download

Ignore the auto-download prompt from the existing Scrivener version. Instead, go to L&L download site, and download the 1.9.6 Scriv file; move that install file to the account where you want it. Only then, double-click the install file to begin the installation. Your updated version will pick up...

Re: Unable to open backup file

Am not sure what version of Windows you're running, but it shouldn't matter. I am a bit confused about the directory your backup file is in; those "temp" levels don't seem like the usual place for a Scriv backup file. If it were me, I'd move that backup .zip file to a top-level directory, ...

Re: Scrivener & Wine - file locations when creating new projects?

WINE assumes you have a "C" directory (following Windows convention) and a 'home' directory on that virtual C drive. Some confusion comes from WINE trying to accomodate both the expected Windows file layout, and co-existing with your Linux home folder and its file layout. I also use Dropbo...

Re: Help! Downloaded update now Scrivener won't load

Every PC is different, with a myriad of software already installed. Many PC's have corrupted registry entries, and so on.. Agreed. From personal experience with both WinXP and now Win7, I've happily used a utility called "CCleaner" for several years to keep Registry entries from accumulat...
