Re: Which template for nonfiction book with chapters?

Thanks, Amber. I'm under a very tight deadline on this and wanted all the structural support I could get, so wanted to make sure I chose the right template. I understand your point about customizing.

Which template for nonfiction book with chapters?

I am not sure whether to use the fiction template for novels, and simply write a nonfiction book, or whether to choose one of the Nonfiction templates, though none of them seem to fit. Unless it's Nonfiction {with subheads}, assuming subheads are the same as chapter titles?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Compiling .mobi book

You just got far more complex and technical than my brain can follow but I'll copy it and share it with somebody who might be able to help me with that. I thought maybe it was just me, but in a very unscientific poll every person I asked on Facebook but one said that they prefered the book to open t...

Re: Compiling .mobi book

So it's an Amazon/Kindle thing that won't allow it to open to the cover, and there is no way to change that?

Curses.

Thank you for all of your information. As always, it's extremely helpful.

Re: Compiling .mobi book

"About the Author," "Other Books by..." and "About the Publisher" are not Front Matter items, if that makes a difference. I made each of them a chapter of its own at the end of the book. I wonder if by eliminating "Front Matter" and simply doing the same with ...

Compiling .mobi book

I'm having two problems. ONE: The "Go To" command on my Kindle shows "Front Matter" as an option, instead of cover, title page, dedication, which looks odd. TWO: I wasn't sure how to add the afterward, about the author, other books by author, so made each one its own chapter. And...

Re: Nothing is "centered" in .mobi document

Thank you! Is there also a place to turn off the flush right margin?

Nothing is "centered" in .mobi document

I compiled a novel and chapter titles and separators for scene changes (#) both go left-justified instead of staying centered.

Any idea what the problem is?

Using Scrivener to organize website?

I'm going to use Scrivener to collect and later organize thoughts/ideas/pages for a new website. I suppose I'll just use the blank template, unless someone has already addressed this and come up with a better idea? I don't think logically so any form or template at all would be helpful.

Thanks!

Re: Because I am technically challenged and am about to upgrade.

If however you're still in 1.54 and will be moving to 2.0 on the new computer, the preference settings won't transfer (so much has changed, you'll need to set them fresh). Very helpful, thank you. I'm still on 1.54 and whatever changes I made were done so gradually, I don't remember what they might...

Re: Because I am technically challenged and am about to upgrade.

Remember that you can download a fresh and current copy of either version from the site. That's what I usually do when bringing up new systems. Helps clean out the bit rot because it forces me to decide if I really do need yet another note taker app. (Or whatever.) Katherine That's what I'm kind of...

Re: Because I am technically challenged and am about to upgrade.

Thanks for this info. I bought Scrivener after downloading the demo, but it was not the nanowrimo demo.

So the 2.0 won't be a new app but will be another upgrade, so I will still only have one app that migrates?

Because I am technically challenged and am about to upgrade.

I'm upgrading Scrivener AND my laptop. Late this week I should be receiving a new 11" MacBook Air. :D I need to eliminate as much unnecessary stuff from my current MacBook as I can before migrating to the new one. I am not sure whether updating Scrivener a couple of times has resulted in a sing...

Re: Spoiled by the Save?

Yes, I've done that as well, out of habit. It was the way I was zipping through chapters/docs, making a tweak and then closing and going to the next that caught me off guard. I was trusting that Scrivener was saving for me, and was worried that perhaps some of them hadn't. Fortunately, that was not ...
