Re: Accommodating the new touch bar

Briar Kit, I guess the same argument can be made about the dock or the menu bar. You'd think that the dock would be an eyesore what with it's round coloured icons, that are bright and magnify if you have that particular setting set up. Users eventually got used to it as being part of their screen, s...

Re: New Feature Request

Keith has written rather extensively why Dropbox is the best. It's written somewhere that I'm hoping someone else can find the link to. I'm not so sure if this already a feature, but about you footnote/endnote idea, what would be nice is if the footnotes appear as footnotes, at the bottom of the pag...

Re: Hello

Greetings Earthling, Welcome to the world of Scrivener! In case you haven't figured it out Vic-K is essentially bat-shit-crazy, though still very much a genius that is bat-shit-crazy. The 'Vic-k effect', essentially is what happens when you spend your life on forums such as these. But that's not a b...

Re: Accommodating the new touch bar

For me, the keyboard is progressively being replaced by dictation. Yeah, to an extent. But for those of us who have speech impairments like myself, the whole Hey Siri thing, or dragon dictate thing is a nightmare if you struggle with stammering or stuttering issues. I realise this applies to a smal...

Re: Leonard Cohen, Leonardo da Vinci of the written/spoken word

Yeah, what a tragedy. In the same week Trump gets elected, Cohen dies. Both are great tragedies, and both have such melancholic effects...it was a double whammy that made me question the existence of...well you know who.

Re: Accommodating the new touch bar

The kind of keyboard you've defined yourself by is precisely what typewriter and mechanical keyboard enthusiasts don't like. It's a myth to think that we would enjoy something as difficult to type on as that contraption doohicky. No, the ideal typewriter or mechanical keyboard is about equilibrium. ...

Re: Accommodating the new touch bar

hmm....maybe I should reassess my stance. I'm old enough to remember the experience of typewriters, so I guess it's old fashioned to think in the way I think. Maybe it's all an illusion, but mechanical keyboards have something to them in that the materiality of the word or thought being typed I thin...

Re: Accommodating the new touch bar

There's an option to hide the menu bar in system preferences, under general. Just found out about it. Also, thanks xiamenese for the shortcut. Very handy. I do hope I can get used to the MacBook pro keyboard. I guess I'll give it another go. Otherwise, it's mac mini + iPad config for me in lieu of a...

Re: Accommodating the new touch bar

Really? It's got very little travel. No, I tried the ones on the MacBook pros and they're not all that fun. Then again, when the magic keyboard vs2 came out I was not a fan; eventually, I got used to it and now I don't want to go back. But Brookter you do have a point in that it might just be my han...

Re: Accommodating the new touch bar

Briar Kit-- Why don't you just wait for the revamped mac mini? I'm sure it's in the pipeline. No touch bar. No keyboard. You can attach whatever keyboard and monitor you want. I'm debating about doing this actually, as I'm not impressed with the keyboard...very painful experience actually, I'm not s...

Re: Accommodating the new touch bar

I think having options to choose what you want overrules everything else (as mentioned).

Re: Accommodating the new touch bar

Every advancement in technology comes with its benefits and problems. I think the best option we could have for the touch bar is the option to choose what we'd like to have on the touch bar and what we don't. For those of us who want nothing, we should have that option. For those who want everything...
