Re: 2 questions: Actual S. file names; PDF indexing

 Would there be much of a quickening of the 'word' indexing speed or of its being searched were I to convert the content of the many PDF documents I have in my projects to plain text? "A simple test in a blank project with one PDF and a project search should confirm that. ..." Thank...

Re: 2 questions: Actual S. file names; PDF indexing

 From within Scrivener, is there a way to see Scrivener's number 'name' for a document? "No, it is not possible to see Scrivener's internal file name for a document from within Scrivener. Nor is it recommended to use that name to access the document from any other tool. The only supporte...

Re: 2 questions: Actual S. file names; PDF indexing

Reading today about the differences between the Mac and Windows Scriveners, my having complete plain text extracts of the PDFs in my project instead of the PDF docs/files themselves might serve a purpose more than merely speeding up possibly the indexing * and probably the project backups: It would ...

Wishlist: Click-Drag awareness

I have things set: Binder (selected item opens in the left Editor); Left Editor (selected item opens in the right Editor). I have the left Editor locked, in outline, showing among others, folder 1; I have the right Editor unlocked, in outline, showing folder 2 etc.. (Throughout, the relative levels ...

Editor header highlighting

:? This behavior has both its use and distraction: I’m just not sure if it is intended. Ctrl-Tabbing from my right-hand editor window, that window does not lose its header bar highlighting until I pass through the Binder and land in the left editor. (The Binder/Collections’ focus could be more obvio...

Identifying child documents (items) as such

 Looking at, working in, an item that is a child item, is there a way to see that it is in fact a child, some clue in the Scrivener app window that tells me the item's container, document or folder? Or better, shows me the parent's name? (And better still--the item's siblings!??!?! I have ena...

Re: Menu > sub-menu > choice Navigation

Thanks. I understand: Alt- (eg) -V > G etc. But what I was trying to say was that I'd rather not up/down with the arrows 10+ times every time I want to get for instance to one of my ~ 10 favorites. Or similarly to one of my folders. And I'd rather not take my hands off the keyboard when a 3-tap migh...

Re: Locked Inspector doesn't navigate consistently with its editor

Salutations ... and thanks, Jerome. For me, now, I still often have to go through multiple verifications/steps to ensure that the Inspector I'm looking at is the Inspector I want. I have noticed other inconsistencies with how the right-hand Editor works; thought this might be another. I haven't expe...

Menu > sub-menu > choice Navigation

 It would be nice were menu items more quickly keyboard-accessible. My thought here was triggered by the many times that the choices I want do not have an action key assigned.

(The usual ‘encounter’ with this for me is View > Go To > Favorites … and the other choices shown.)

Re: Easy way to go back to last edit position

 I do use the editors’ history (and back again) navigation many times a day, from one document to another (or to an outline even): Making it operative for my mouse’s back/forward buttons would make it even more effective. (I know: I'm asking for mouse functionality -- again!) I suspect that t...

Somewhat along the same lines, the back and forth of using the Binder and Collections:  It would be of use to have some indicator on the most recently used (non-search) Collection when I move to the Binder; just an asterisk on the tab or something similar. Re: Project Search limitations (eg, identifying location of several hit items)

I would find it of use were there a RC context menu choice that would allow me to 'find throughout’ the project all the items with the same name as the selected item in the Binder or outlining/card Editor....

Re: Outline-mode editor functionality

Ioa, Re header lock button. Thanks; with my keyboard focus I'd not used that menu button yet. (Though I probably clicked on it early without much sense as to how I would use Scrivener.) Of course, this thought was for those rare times my hand was 'inadvertently' on the mouse -- inexplicably ...

Re: Strange text expansion bug

As a Windows user, I can't say how similar its string expansions and spelling 'corrections' are to those of the Mac and iOS versions of Scrivener. That said: There are indeed some strange (for my purposes and expectations) Windows version assumptions. One could (as I have) teach 'Scrivener', 'Learn ...
