Re: Does anyone use Hot Plan from Intuiware?

Esmeralda, Thanks for pointing out Hot Plan. I have just downloaded it and begun exploring its features. It feels like it has the right balance of functionality and ease of use for my needs. I like this simple but handy feature: the ability to add a separator in the list pane on the left, to help or...

Leviathan Wakes

I just finished reading a fun space opera called Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey. Barnes & Noble link: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/leviathan-wakes-james-s-a-corey/1100293281?ean=9780316129084&itm=1&usri=leviathan%2bwakes The story takes place in our solar system about 150 years ...

Re: Looking for a good clip manager

Ioa,

Thanks for the recommendations. I should have explained that part of what is driving me is that I am clipping information from one location to paste into another, so the clip manager is the better choice. I'll check out PTH Pasteboard. Thank you.

Looking for a good clip manager

Greetings, I need to get a good clip manager, nothing fancy. Just something to organize clipboard clips and other pieces of boilerplate that I can quickly paste into other apps. I'm trying out Paste Master and it works pretty well (and is only $8). I'd be happy with it, but I thought I'd check here ...

Re: Tinderbox

Dan,

I suggest you post your question on the Tinderbox forum, because you'll get expert help pretty quickly. If what you want to do is possible, you'll find out there.

Update: I see that Hugh already suggested this. Sorry for the redundancy!

Re: Tinderbox

I have been looking for the equivalent of Tinderbox on the PC for some time, but it just does not exist. I would agree with Ioa and Hugh that Zoot is one good choice, especially if its more the "agents" and "actions" you like about Tinderbox, as opposed to the visual map. If the ...

Re: favorite todo list programs?

Autofocus needs only a pen and notebook containing one long list of all the things you have to do, worked according to a simple set of rules. Greetings, brother in mind! Yes, Autofocus is what I use, too. Cured me from CRIMP, too. And from GTD. I'm afraid you can never be "cured" from you...

Re: Re:

These are typical beginner's mistakes - but a good tutorial *for beginners* would have saved them. I can't help feeling that the makers are shooting themselves in the foot by failing to have great tutorials; there may be thousands of possible customers - hundreds of thousands, even, if they got int...

Re: Scrivener Needs to Finish

Obviously, I can't argue with the basis of your premise. It would be great if Scrivener could do everything a writer needs, from drafting to publishing the final, polished work ready for the world to consume. But it seems to me to be a bit greedy and unrealistic to expect a $45 piece of software to ...

Re: Organizing pdfs AND word files?

I'm back again to bring up PersonalBrain. I'm not trying to convince anyone to change applications, nor am I being argumentative. It's just that I find this topic very interesting, because it gets to the heart of what a lot of us do and how we interact with the information that we gather. Here is my...

Re: Organizing pdfs AND word files?

I personally do NOT recommend Personal Brain. I love the idea of it, but find that its interface doesn't scale to the number of items I'd need for any substantial project. I'm in no way trying to dispute Katherine's experience with PersonalBrain, but do want to provide a different perspective. I fi...

Re: Organizing pdfs AND word files?

(Someone told me that whatever you put into DevonThinkPro won't ever come out again: that it's forever transformed into that specific format. Is that true? That's not a dealbreaker for me, I just wonder.) If anyone else has any ideas, do let me know! This used to be true of the earlier version of D...

Re: Organizing pdfs AND word files?

I'm not trying to talk you into PersonalBrain, because if you find DevonThink works for you that's an excellent application. I just want to make a couple of points about your objections to PersonalBrain. First, if your documents are stored inside the brain, the search will find hits within PDFs and ...

Re: Organizing pdfs AND word files?

I would suggest you look into PersonalBrain, since one of your stated needs is creating relationships among your PDF and Word documents. Nothing, in my experience, does that better than PersonalBrain. What you would do is attach your PDFs and Word documents to Thoughts in PB. If you get the pro vers...
