Re: Personal Finance.

I don't auto reconcile as reconciliation time is when I categorize my expenses. My rule is that everything--everything--is allocated. I also keep my cash account in Quicken, and following the very good advice in the book, Your Money or Your Life, I strive to write down every expense and account for...

Happy New Year from a surprisingly quiet Amsterdam (but ok, it's been a while since the parties ended).

Have the best one yet ;)

Re: The status of the next update and 2.0

No complaints from me either! But ehm...
What this means for you All this means is that the next free update of Scrivener won't be quite as whizz-bang as I may have inadvertantly led you to believe. There will still be another Scrivener 1.x release, an improvement on th...

Re: These moody characters might work?

http://aislingnano.wordpress.com/2008/11/04/trusting-the-moods-of-the-characters/ I was searching through my blog and other than an astronomy photo of the day with two black holes dancing I found these cool goth girls. The link above takes you, I think, to the goth girls. Could one of them be my av...

Re: The Will!

Keith, I grew up in a family of lawyers and almost became one myself. Whenever a client declared that he never got formally married, Dad would ask how long the partnership had lasted. If it was more than seven years, he assured the client that under common law he was well and truly married. Since U...

Re: Loosing weight

I have a whole new relation with raw food these days. I can't eat raw carrots, raw or steamed cauliflower and my other veggies need to get steamed more towards the softer side and not crispy as I like. I couldn't handle broccoli for a long time, but I insisted and now I can eat it fairly thoroughly ...

Re: What's the best recipe software?

I went for MacGourmet Deluxe, because it seemed the only one with a nutritional database and capable of checking the nutritional value of a recipe. I also liked the bit where I can fairly easily copy a recipe from a site. I also like the pantry search option (I have x but not y) I've used it for a f...

Re: Personal Finance.

Tannie #1 and #2 are mostly due to my desire to keep the US and NY state governments out of my pockets. I expect that a lot of these "requirements" of mine are relates to my account telling me how I should be tracking things so she can maximize my deductions. Mmm, tax deductions ;) I get ...

Re: Personal Finance.

I sound like a fangirl, sorry :) Tanja Careful, you might make Keith jealous. Oh I fangirl about Scrivener just as much in other places ;) Ok, I am in the market for a new "finance manager". Quicken had ticked me off. Again. I looked at moneywell and really like the idea. Here is the prob...

Re: Personal Finance.

I third (?) the MoneyWell recommendation. After struggling to get GnuCash installed (which I still like!) and playing around with MoneyDance (wich I also still like) I saw the update for MoneyWell. Having never heard of it before, I tried it out, because even though I like GnuCash and MoneyDance the...

Re: Personal Finance.

Does anyone use Gnucash? I love it very much, even with the pain of installing it on my mac (though with 10.5 it became easier, just time-consuming). I've tried iBank and recently Moneydance, and though Moneydance works quite well, I miss the simplicity of Gnucash. Moneydance makes nice graphs and c...

I can tell you from experience that snorting Diet Coke leads to pain and other... discomfort.

I'll leave it at that.

Re: .scriv file disappeared

Depending on how you work you may accidentally drag and drop files to different (neighbouring or child) folders. This happened a lot on me on my laptop, and I found out I had 'tap to click' for my mousepad turned on, which caused accidental drag n dropping. I turned it off, as it also caused acciden...
