Headers appear in courier

I compiiled my MS, the entire MS is in Times Roman, which is perfect. But the headers are in Courier.

Passwords, passwords, passwords

I read Dogmeat's post below. Timely, since I'm playing around with Keychain. I thought I was pretty slick when it came to passwords, but the more I read, the more I realize... not so much. While I use longer passwords that include numbers and characters, nothing involving maiden names, cities, or pl...

Re: Smart Folder experts?

That's it!

Leopard - sorry.

But, I never knew about holding down the option key. I scoured my one and only Mac book and that's not in there. VERY cool. Thanks so much, Amber!

Smart Folder experts?

After a year, I've become a packrat. While I have organized my files in folders (which is fine), there are times when I just want to see every document. By that, I mean Word, Pages, RTF, text. What I don't want to see, and this is where I'm stumped: images, mp3, audio files, html, xml, etc. Any way ...

Re: Alternate versions of project

I had no idea Scriv could do this... VERY interesting!

Thanks everyone! The last thing I wanted was to keep two separate word docs. Talk about nightmares and maalox!

Alternate versions of project

I have an a couple interested agents in a project, and wouldn't you know it, they want a rewrite and resubmit. What is so hard is that they each want something different. While I know about the roll-back feature, this would be rather complicated as I'd like to keep the original, and then a Version A...

Keep search highlight on

I know there's a way to keep the search highlight on while working with a doc. For instance, I search for a certain word in the entire doc. If I edit one instance, the highlight disappears unless I press enter in the search field again. I looked under preferences, but I didn't readily see anything. ...

Default novel format?

Call it lack of sleep. Call it stupidity. I swore I'd never touch default settings again, and I did. Now I'm not sure how to put it back. I tried Scriv Preferences and Typography, default. But it isn't right. When I start a new paragraph, it isn't indented and the line spacing seems a bit off. How t...

Re: Dreamweaver? Or something else?

What type of sites? Nothing overly complex, but nothing cheesy. First, my own website, and then a few for a couple fellow writer friends. Possibly branch out from there. Why? The geek in me I suppose, that and I guess on some level it combines art with tech. Could be fun. Could make me pull out my h...

Dreamweaver? Or something else?

What would you recommend for building websites and why? I hear a lot of talk about Dreamweaver. And don't laugh, but what about iweb 09? Learning curve? Beginner here... decent amount of IT skill, but none in the programming field. And dare I ask - PC or Mac version if recommending software that'll ...

Re: Opening manuscript in Pages '09 (sigh...)

I agree - with Keith. .docx is merely Microsoft's way of making people upgrade and keep using Office to stay compatible with the rest of the business world. Programming is total greek to me, but from what I gather from Keith's explanation is that it wouldn't be difficult for Apple to give us better ...

Re: Opening manuscript in Pages '09 (sigh...)

Oh, to simplify things. <dreams pleasantly for a moment> I agree, but I'd hoped for that one itty bitty thing - that Pages would be able to read rtf files and therefore, save me from MS forever... Alas... Okay, without Keith whacking me on the head, maybe there is a chance that Apple will release co...

Re: Opening manuscript in Pages '09 (sigh...)

Keith, yes, that's what I thought you meant. I went back and tried a few things out between Word, Scriv, Pages, and from PC to Mac. You are so right - Pages has difficulty with various rtf files - and not just from Scriv! A couple of times, Pages moved a line from page two of a resume to page one, a...
