Re: Programmers To Implement Night Mode By The Close Of Business 9-7-16

Apparently, you have forgotten that Sept. 7 is Brazilian Independence Day. Since Apple's entire Night Mode Division is based in Brazil, they will not be at work.

Re: Once you go Mac ...

Two-finger tap it is. Marvelous. The trackpad on this rig is ridiculously responsive. Even in its heyday, the trackpad on my Windows laptop moved like a rented mule by comparison. Briar: At first I couldn't get the look up function working. Turned out I had the Force Click setting activated, so I ch...

Once you go Mac ...

My Windows laptop finally entered hospice this week, and apparently Santa Scrivener determined I'd be getting a cross-platform replacement. Have to admit, I'm starting to believe the hype.

Now, if I could only figure out how the damn right-click works.

Seem to remember Keith saying ETA would be before "the heat death of the universe." And that Windows will release later than Mac.

That is certainly true, for those of you with adult levels of patience and the ability to delay gratification. :D

Re: On the Issue of Bloatware

Ah, yes, I got a little carried away on that one, didn't I? Nah, I didn't think so. It is, as you said, mind-blowing. It actually got me wondering what else might be hidden under the hood ... ("Hmm. Maybe if I click on the Inspector button while resting an elbow on the Space key, Snapshot comp...

Re: On the Issue of Bloatware

Edit: After re-reading your post, I'm curious what you're referring to when you say that I've said myself what features WinScriv is lacking. The Proof of God feature bug was what occurred to me: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=31664#p202936 All I can say is wow. If...

Hang on a second. You do want certain features WinScriv is lacking. You've said so yourself.

Re: How to change trim size?

I'm starting to think there's just no way to do it in Windows Unfortunately, that is correct, there is no way to do it in WinScriv. You *could* try to manually adjust your page margins to get your needed output size, but in the end WinScriv doesn't support alternating gutter margins required by POD...

Re: On the Issue of Bloatware

What qualifies as bloat? Is that even the right word for what we are all arguing about? Has bloat come to mean differently to different people? Seems there are in fact two concepts being discussed: complexity versus bloat. Two examples immediately come to mind. Photoshop, for instance, is a very la...

I think he means something like the Quick Export preview in Ulysses.

Re: On the Issue of Bloatware

Moore's Law is acknowledged to have waned, not least of all by Moore himself. On the other side, there's Wirth's Law (restated as Page's Law) which says that software will slow down faster than hardware will speed up. The issue of usability has already been mentioned, but there's also the issue of s...

Re: Scrivener for Apple Watch

Say you're driving and have a brainwave. What's better, to pull off the road, find a safe place to park, pull out your phone, and call up an app so you can make your notation? Or tell yourself there's no time, you'll miss your appointment, you're sure you'll remember it, continue on your journey, a...

Re: Font rendering in Windows 10

If fonts looked fine to you in WinScriv 1.9.0, then you don't take issue with WinScriv's font rendering, you have the DPI or some other problem. My monitors aren't classy enough to have had any direct experience with the DPI issue, but the consensus is that 1.9.6 fixed scaling problems on high-DPI s...
