Re: Living Without Computers - Day 0

Going for another week away from the digital domain.

While I'm away, I don't want to come back and for anything to be broken, and you have to make sure vic-k is sufficiently able to climb up stairs.
I've left some ice cream in the freezer - don't eat it all at once though.

Re: Noen andre nordmenn her?

If he said "Ich bin ein Berliner" I'm wondering if he was grammatically correct. I think Berliner is masculine and need "einER" infront of it, rather than "ein". This is what you get from being a Dyslexic German student - you start figuring things out, then not having a...

Re: Re:

Ich bin Berliner. Nein ! Paul I initially thought you were emulating JFK, famous for saying to a crowd during a visit to Berlin, "Ich bin eine Berliner" ... much more interesting! :) Mark I think it's "Ich bin eine r Berliner" because Berliner is masculine. AndreasE will tell if...

Re: Disabled Students Allowance+Scriv

I think part of the reason why I have been coping is because I have put a lot of effort into taking myself out of environments where it hinders me and into environments where it is actually an advantage. Hence post-dramatic-theatre, and contempory chereography over academia.

Re: Disabled Students Allowance+Scriv

I have the form of it that is relatively unknown. Most people think of dyslexia as predominantly affecting your ability to read and write well/at all. For many, this is accurate, and indeed exhaustive. However, dyslexia is actually far broader ranging than that - it will also affect other cognitive ...

Disabled Students Allowance+Scriv

I had a meeting with the DSA people today to discuss my "learning needs" and when he suggested I have MS Office I said that I'm not putting anything by Microsoft onto my Mac and told him I'm going Scrivener and Pages all the way. I then proceeded to show him Scrivener. I think that he's pr...

Re: Am I being here a dick?

If I am being a dick I am happy to accept it. But here's the thing: Most of my time spent writing those posts wasn't intented to be directed into attacking photorealism. I was defending my right not to value something (beyond it's technical value) that someone else calls art. Which raises an interes...

Re: the best way to use key words

Can I add this: Keep your keywording consistant. If you start using a keyword, stick with it. In Aperture (which supports heirachical keywording), I tag ANYTHING with people in it with a "people" keyword. I'll then look at all the people keyword and then ANYTHING where those people are fam...

Re: the best way to use key words

I'm fairly new to keywording, but do a lot of photography and I have started using it in Aperture to tag photos. If there's one thing I've learned is that you should tag in whatever way is most meanful to you. The best thing I did to my Aperture tags is delete the suggested, default tags. I can see ...

Re: Am I being here a dick?

I am Goyen. Jacqi - what you're talking about is some photo/hyper-realists do. In that (very rare) context, I can actually appriciate it as more than a technical excercise. The trouble is so few people actually seem to have had that idea - they just get caught up in making it look as spectacular as ...

Re: Oh no - is Apple now a phone company?

I'm definately with Anthony on this one. There were a couple of apps I used to use that were Java; they were really simple and they still ran terribly.
