Re: Garbage collection

Are you rsyncing over ssh or via an intermediate drive? if so the perms should match the UID and umask of the user logging in (ssh on the remote or login on the local). I'm rsyncing over ssh and not as root. Update: I just looked in /Applications and the app permissions turned out to be ... unusual...

Re: Garbage collection

I'll have to check the permissions when I get home. One thing I'll flag; frequent use of rsync to replicate my work directory tree between multiple machines. (I need to check the UID I'm using on each machine -- that's a possible source of headaches, isn't it?) I'll mail you the file when I get home...

Re: Garbage collection

Hi, Thanks for the bug report. I just tested this and it worked fine, though - the .webarchive got deleted from disk when I emptied the trash. You mention that this happens with a backup, though - could you give me your exact steps? Is any synchronisation involved? I'm just wondering, since you men...

Garbage collection

(Brief report -- I'm on the road right now; more details later.) Working with a Scrivener project in Scrivener 1.51, I was wondering why my backups were swelling alarmingly on a new project; up to 24Mb. I did some digging. Turns out I have some PDFs and web archives. Some tweaking of the PDFs using ...

Re: Cheap, Writing-only Laptops

I'd just like to note that the rumours have dialed up to 11 over the past couple of days, with a September announcement allegedly due. Respectable sources say that 10" display panels have been ordered for delivery in bulk in Q3/09, that it's going to be based on the ARM Cortex A8 architecture a...

Re: Compile Manuscript (to Microsoft Word) produces RTF?!?

Documents To Go can parse Word 95/97/2000 and (recently) Word 2007, but it doesn't handle RTF at all, which is a problem for PalmOS users (and folks with DTG on other PDA/smartphone platforms, and also for other WPs that can't automatically tell the difference between RTF and Doc and do the right th...

Compile Manuscript (to Microsoft Word) produces RTF?!?

Subject says it all: Scrivener 1.11 on OS/X 10.5.2, attempted to Compile Manuscript to Microsoft Word format file, ended up with RTF. Compile Manuscript to RTF produces RTF, too, and the DOC and RTF export files are identical (according to diff). Note that texutil -convert doc [target.rtf] works fin...

List of recently exported filenames

I'm working in Scrivener 1.11 at present, and as part of my backup cycle I export a copy of my book-in-progress every day (as RTF or Word -- hopefully as ODT in another release or so). (I'm cross-platform, so I need an editable whole-book document for synchronization with my non-Mac machines.) Anywa...

Already done. You can already import .odt files in 1.11 (the current release version). You will be able to export to .odt in 1.12. Okay, you're about to get another registered user ... (And now I've got to figure out how to best go about importing the first four -- published -- volumes of the serie...

OpenDoc (ODT) support and textkit on Leopard

(First posting here ...) I've just downloaded Scrivener and I'm rather impressed, but there's one feature I really need, namely: the ability to import and export ODT files. I work in OpenOffice (or NeoOffice in the Mac) and OpenDoc is my standard format -- if I start using Scrivener, I need to be ab...
