Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

That is not a fair characterization of the response at all. The response has been that Scrivener is a Rich Text editor, which is perfectly fine. I do not like that, but that part does not get in the way that much, especially with the sync to external folder functionality. But why the iOS distraction...

Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

Of course each feature requires development. That is why I explain the importance of this feature to me. Even if I were to format text, the buttons for doing so would be of no use. The keyboard shortcuts are not only perfectly adequate, but a lot faster for pretty much everyone. It makes absolutely ...

Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

You are not listening. Just because I disagree does not mean I do not listen and do not understand. I listen and understand perfectly well. I am explaining my side. To me they are cruft. I want to be able to turn them off. If they are useful to you, then by all means, do not turn them off. But how ...

Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

There could still be a check box which allows removal of formatting cruft in distraction free mode for those who do not want that distraction. In fact, removing them everywhere would be a great feature.

Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

Scrivener's editor is very proper when it comes to editing text. It's British, after all. In that sense, indeed. =) By "proper text tools", do you mean grep, awk, sed, PERL, Vi/Emacs/Pico/Nano and the like? Because the "sync with external folder" feature has a plain text option ...

Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

This is the kind of statement that really baffles me. What about having rich text available to you impedes your usage of Scrivener? Can't directly use and manipulate the text in the Scrivener document with text tools while working in Scrivener. Thus I cut and paste everything to a proper text edito...

Re: iOS has no distraction-free composition mode?

Do you seriously mean that you are distracted by the few things at the top and bottom while in the editor in full-screen mode? IMG_0310.PNG Yes. That Scrivener insists on Rich Text is what keeps me from using it for more than research and outlining. It gets in the way of so many uses, and in this c...

Re: Please do not go subscription

The trouble for me with the Ulysses way of doing it is mainly that if I am happy with the app as it is, I can't buy it. I won't be able to stick with the version I know works for me, and which has the features I like. If they run off in a different direction, that's what I'll be getting from them, r...

Convert font in entire project

This can be done "by mistake", by opening a project in the iOS version on an iOS device which does not have the font used in the project, editing the project, and then opening it in Scrivener on the desktop. Then the font will be Helvetica. This is an excellent tool! I would love to have t...

Re: Q: Anyone using Scriv on a Dell XPS-13 Developer Edition?

Scrivener for Linux works fine with Ubuntu 12.04LTS 32 and 64 bit (as long as you install ia32-libs). The issue is with spell checking, as mentioned. You will also have no problems running Scrivener for Windows under Wine on that system, although it will require a few easy steps to get moving on. On...
