^(This|That)

Scrivener appears to be using PCRE for RegExp, which would make ^ match start of string. PCRE has no NOT operator, to my knowledge.

Re: Online Version (?)

Not quite as good as Scrivener, but not bloody far off! It can't even cut and paste folders and plot cards, and that is on the long term roadmap, not the short term. It's VERY far away from Scrivener in basic functionality, and it has NONE of the research capability of Scrivener. Creating a large p...

Re: A great program marred by critical flaws in core functionality.

On the negative side, and quite surprising to me, Scrivener's reputation seems to be losing some of its previous luster. If anything, I see rather the contrary. Version 3 for PC is shaping up well, and a lot of people are trying it for free. And the 1.9.x version is very stable and solid for Window...

Re: Scrivener - Windows & Linux Versions

Ack. :( Hopefully it's not covid-19. It was. I was down and out for weeks. Really did a number on me. How you feeling now? Better, but not great. Still very weak, and problems focusing. No energy to even do things I enjoy. But it's getting better, so I have hope. :) I had a friend with La 'Rona, an...

Apologies it was so late. I got really sick, and haven't been active with anything online, really.

Glad to hear you're working the project out though. Best of luck with it!

Re: Scrivener - Windows & Linux Versions

My only concern is whether the binder categories and text (including footnotes) for a file composed under the former will fully and accurately open under the latter. In my experience, moving back and forth between 1.9.16 on Windows and 1.9.0.1 on Linux works flawlessly. There are no issues what so ...

Re: Moving from Mac to PC

Unfortunately you will need a separate license. The Windows version 3 is coming along very well. It's in release candidate now, and I have been using it on and off for months now (off only because I write a lot on Linux, and the Linux version can't read V3 projects) and it's very stable already. The...

Make up your mind. You are making two self contradictory claims here.

I don't care that you don't understand you do. That's not my problem. But you do.

Re: WIndows 3 Release: My Thoughts

That's nonsense. Rather the contrary, as you yourself support with your examples. There are Papyrus A piece of software which has taken a dedicated C++ team a decade to get to the current level of polish - and then it can't do half of what Scrivener can do. A perfect example of the amount of effort...

Re: Scrivener - Windows & Linux Versions

I run the Linux version and the latest version 1 for Windows, and work on projects in parallel between them with no problems. There are changes in internal project layout, but that is nothing I notice, as long as I do not open the projects on iOS Scrivener or on the beta 3 version. Using the Linux v...

Re: Would so LOVE to see Scrivener 3 for Windows during the Coronavirus Shutdown

But by a few years? Nope. That's a sign that the service provider doesn't know what they're doing, or lacks experience and therefore grossly miscalculated the required efforts, or is hiding other relevant information from their clients (e.g., a solo entrepreneur struggling with time-consuming depre...

Re: Reduced Cross-Platform Support

they're obviously not large enough a company to realize this goal in a reasonable timeline. They have a working, stable multi-platform solution OUT NOW. If that timeline is not reasonable enough for you, you've got very special demands, that luckily are not shared by most people. There's a lot of u...

Re: Would so LOVE to see Scrivener 3 for Windows during the Coronavirus Shutdown

Also remember that in some translations, Jesus said he was coming back soon, so... Matthew 24:34, Mark 13:30, Luke 21:32 (NRSV) "Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place." Hopefully we won't have to wait two millennia for Scrivener 3 for...

Re: Reduced Cross-Platform Support

Perhaps if we are lucky it'll make a difference. You honestly and truly believe that L&L are sitting on their hands, not wanting to release a Windows 3 version, and deliberately eschewing income, making people upset, and having articles written about how they just keep working on Scrivener 3 an...

Which is not acceptable, because not using the API means it WILL BREAK when Apple changes things, which they do all the time.
