Re: Writing with iPad Pro + Pencil. Is it viable?

I've been using Stylus (which is a MyScript "keyboard") on my ipad mini. I love it. I've "invested" in a finer point active stylus and it works quite well (I did try the Adonit Jot stylus but I found that little plastic foot difficult to use, let alone write with). I'm really sur...

Re: Background building

I remember someone here recommended this one on a similar note: How "Not to Write a Novel: 200 Classic Mistakes and How to Avoid Them--A Misstep-by-Misstep Guide". I quite enjoyed it (except for the bits that were a bit too close to stuff I'd written. Sigh).

Re: How to add icons?

That I don't know for sure (guess alert!)...but I suspect it would probably display as small images the files would probably remain gi-normous.

There are a few (many) image re-sizers on the interwebz though, e.g. http://www.picresize.com/

Re: How to add icons?

I get mine from websites:

http://www.iconsdb.com/

http://www.iconarchive.com/

I generally use 32px sized PNGs but your mileage (and usage) may vary.

Re: How to migrate from WordPress to Scrivener?

If you've got the XML file, you could try this site: http://xmlgrid.net/xml2text.html I was sure there were plugins for this but it looks like they're mostly all gone. However, this plugin looks the goods but hasn't been updated for ages https://wordpress.org/plugins/export-posts/ (personally, I'd t...

Re: iOS, converting handwriting to text

If you like writing on physical paper and have a bit of money to burn… I've been rather impressed by Livescribe 3's "smartpen", and especially impressed by the Neo N2. You write on special paper (buy or print) with a Bluetooth pen that syncs to your phone, then you have the app transcribe...

Re: What's with all the spamming here?

The spammers seem to prefer relatively low traffic forums, for whatever reason. Some forum software will automatically block posts with only links for content. Don't know if that's possible with our software or not. Katherine phpBB comes with the ability to add a question in the register process th...

Re: A sad passing

Oh, nom. I'm so sorry to hear this and sadly, I know exactly how you feel. Dogs are family but they're with us for too short a time. I lost my pal five years ago (I had to check, it seems so much more recent) and I still grieve for her. My condolences to you and yours.

Re: Grey rectangles when scrolling

I have a MacBook that is, I think 2012. It has a known (to Apple but never fixed) graphics or motherboard problem that didn't start until just out of warranty. In my case, the screen goes black (so just grey blocks is better than mine!) and has to be restarted. The issue has ensured that whenever I ...

Re: Help needed

Hey Яog, one of my work colleagues has very much enjoyed "The Martian" by Andy Weir. Sort of MacGyver meets Robinson Crusoe (if MacGyver and Robinson Crusoe were on Mars). He said it was a ripping yarn and rattles along (I haven't read it yet, it's on my 2017 list).

Re: Website/Forum for Research

I've posted this link before (and copped scorn) but it's an interesting place just to read (like the seating details of the at the Mariinsky Theatre). I'm not suggesting that this site will provide "The Answer", but if nothing else, someone will probably be able to suggest help with your G...

Date on .scriv file

Yes, after all these years, I have no idea how this works. Embarrassing (again). Anyway, I've been using the iOS version and syncing with DB often (every session). But...when I sync'd to my Mac this morning, the dates/time stamps on the .scriv "files" in Dropbox > Apps >Scrivener is "...
