Re: iPad as a writing/research tool

Form our perspective, “built form the ground up for iPad” should not mean “we used Xcode, Interface Builder, and targeted 1024×786″. It would boost my confidence some if they knew the diff between form and from . Well, what do you expect. They're German.* * There's always a chance to semi-quote Sou...

Re: AlphaSmart (the opposite of the iPad)

I hated it. :D Well, I thought was exactly the kind of customer they had in mind with the Alphasmart. But I quickly found out that I need the whole bunch of manuscript at my fingertips. In my workflow I keep revising and shuffling my scenes while I write the text itself. And with an Alphasmart I hes...

Re: iPad as a writing/research tool

This may have come up in this thread already, but what will keep me from buying an iPad right now is the scenario in which I have to work on the road: Someone sends me a .doc or .xls to review or work on and I have to send it back then. I know: iWork imports and exports those files, but on my deskto...

Sorry for bringing politics into this. I should've known ... :)

But, hey, obviously Steve himself wants us Germans to blame the government. :D

Re: iPad as a writing/research tool

For 2.0 it would need be "IMPROVED SEAMLESS CHUNKIFICATION"! But I stand in awe before the word "amanuensis". ;) I still have this itch to just buy the iPad and see how it could fit in my personal workflow. To use it as a kind of electronic notepad is probably the most sensible w...

Re: Just a wish: Checkmarks

You can achieve something comparable by (ab)using the labels in the inspector. Choose green for finished files, enable "Tint icons with label color" and you have markings in your binder. Of course, you would need to use the labels as status information for your whole project, which might c...

Re: Window oddity in 10.6.3

I guess you mean things like the Colors or Fonts windows? They disappear when changing an application, yes. Those windows also fade out when using Exposee. But I think this behaviour was already there in earlier versions (upgraded to 10.6.3 already, so I can't check).
