New Document in Scrivenings Mode

Often I'm writing along in Scrivenings mode, and I want to create a new document right after the one I'm in, because it's a new topic. I can type Command+N to create it. But to change the document title, the only way I know is to click into the binder and change it. That takes me out of Scrivenings ...

Re: Metadata for Markdown YAML

Ah, yes. The use of Synopsis could be helpful for my blurbs, maybe. Might be worth a try. One of those yak-shaving things, though, compared to just doing what I currently do ... :)

Re: Metadata for Markdown YAML

Regarding whether $keywords would work, I'm not sure, but it might. Anyway seems like what I was thinking to do isn't the ticket. Thanks!

Re: Metadata for Markdown YAML

Web site is folders full of subfolders each with an article index.html, with the folder name reflecting the article title. This means that ronjeffries.com/articles/how-to-scriv/ can be the URL for an article with index.html implied. Idea is to use Scrivener to create some subset of these, probably w...

Re: Metadata for Markdown YAML

Hm, and um. I take it "Code block" explains why there's a tab in front of the built-in items? I'm not sure whether that's Kosher or not but I can try to compile it and see if Jekyll objects. But my custom item doesn't get a tab in front. How might I best adjust that? And my hope had been t...

Metadata for Markdown YAML

Typically, markdown documents are expected to (or allowed to) have metadata at the top, in YAML format, such as: Date: 2018-07-09 Title: "My Document Title" Blurb: "Some vague description of the article" I'm toying with using Scrivener to generate articles into my web site, which...

Re: New project, same settings? Force a references page and Carrying YAML over

OK, super. I want no YAML so ill just have to remove them every time I guess. No big deal.

I guess the pics I used automatically scaled due to being large or something. Anyway I've forced the final separator so as to be sure there's always something at the end to use as a ref page.

Thanks!

Re: Compiling To LaTeX -- One file per section?

Yes, another better way to do it, as I'm overriding the encoding for all time.

Re: New project, same settings? Force a references page and Carrying YAML over

I'll try to be more clear. Metadata When compiling to MMD, Scrivener puts Title and Author in, per the metadata pane in Compile. In my template, I had removed them (prior to saving I think) and they came back in the new project. That and other oddities make me wonder whether the template doesn't ful...

Re: Compiling To LaTeX -- One file per section?

Good plan. I set it in the source but had I known of the command line option I'd have used it, that seems better.

Re: New project, same settings? Force a references page and Carrying YAML over

Arrgh, that isn't quite what happened!! This time, when I dragged a picture into Scrivener, it compiled a direct reference: ![foo.png](foo.png) rather than the indirect references I see in the other project, where it would be ![](foo) ... later [foo]: foo.png Or whatever it is. What's making the dif...

New project, same settings? Force a references page and Carrying YAML over

I started a new GitHub Pages project based on my writeup elsewhere here. I used the same format. (I've now duplicated it and begun to make changes.) A number of things have not worked as expected. First, the YAML Title and Author re-appeared in Compile and I had to delete those lines again. Was ther...

Re: Style Shortcuts

I have given it quite the reading but I do have other things to do, and of course much of it is not applicable to any given thing. Plus it's a lot to take in. So one remembers it's in there but can't find it again. I've found Find to be nearly useless in Preview, since it seems not to do phrases but...

Re: Style Shortcuts

And it's not MUCH longer than War and Peace. :) I have found no useful way to search those 878 pages to find what one wants. I did read thru that section tonight, and the information is certainly there. The trick is finding it. I have no useful solution, mind you, although possibly having shortcuts ...
