Re: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

My husband had a great time with the old "Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic" game on the XBox. Not only did the other characters have some character, but there was the added dimension that the player's character could shift from the light side of the Force to the dark side and back, d...

Re: Mental space

Sounds like my first year in law school, when I (ulp!) moved back home with my parents. Let's just put it this way: My grades improved when I got an apartment with another law student.

LOL! I'd thought about working on NaNoWriMo, but now I think I'm going to go on strike! 8) Maybe I'll read every night instead.

Re: Mental space

Don't feel inferior or incapacitated! You're just distracted. While you have visitors in the house, you're probably so busy fulfilling the role of hostess and/or mother that you've little time or energy for writing. Jane Austen was just better than most of us at blocking everybody else out.

Re: Online Copyright Submission

It's true that here in the US, we automatically have property rights in the works we create. Official copyright registration just gives us and our heirs the right to beat the daylights out of an infringer in federal court, for at least the length of our lives plus another 75 years. Otherwise, an aut...

Re: Online Copyright Submission

Jaycen and rochefore raise good points. The debate about who's a "legitimate" vs. an "illegitimate" writer aside, there are plenty of good reasons why an unpublished writer would wish to copyright his or her manuscripts. Anyone ever loaned out a copy of a manuscript to a friend, ...

Re: Underlining books

A few things factor into which annotation method I use. If I don't own the book, I never make any marks in it. Before Scrivener, I'd flag the selections I wanted with sticky notes, because I could write on the sticky notes. Now, I just type what I need into Scrivener. It's a different story when I o...

Re: Online Copyright Submission

I've used it, and I, too, had a few minor frustrations (switching from Safari to Firefox, for instance). On balance, however, it was a faster process than sending it in by snail-mail, and cheaper. Plus, once the system accepts your payment and says your submission's complete, anyone who does a searc...

Re: ADIEU (for now?)

Fluff,

A whole day to wrap the new human around your paw? Have more faith in yourself! In my experience, all you have to do to get female humans to do whatever you want is to roll over and give them the upside-down cutie look. Oh, and trill at them. They love that.

Best of luck!

Re: ADIEU (for now?)

Courage, friend! This, too, shall pass. It's obviously not easy to ignore your wife's manic friend, but try to focus on the fact that she's probably trying to be helpful. Just convalesce and let the friend buzz about. Since you're almost guaranteed to be quieter than the friend, and therefore less d...
