Re: Share a file WITHOUT sharing global customization?

Love my Scrivener! Always there with great answers...and the ability to do EXACTLY what I want it to do. The blank document solution is perfect. I am teaching a tutorial and so being able to share a Scrivener file that DOES contain comments and keywords WITHOUT my other meta-data, presets, etc...is ...

Re: Share a file WITHOUT sharing global customization?

Expanding on my question, it looks as if I save a file as a Project Template I can give it other users with the desired effect that they get a Binder with the text and folders I want to share... ...but what isn't clear in creating a Project Template is what custom formatting is saved in this new tem...

Share a file WITHOUT sharing global customization?

Is there a way to share a scrivener file with other users, without also sharing my personal info and customization that is global to all my projects? Meaning I email you this scrivener document, but when you open it DOES NOT contain my custom formatting presets, my costume compile settings, my templ...

Re: Preserving chapter number on a partial compile?

Your solution is so painfully obvious and intuitive. That's why they pay you the big bucks. Thanks for always answering my posts with brilliance.

Re: Preserving chapter number on a partial compile?

I see. So it looks as you must do this chapter at a time. I often send partials to other writers/editors in chunks that span several chapters and don't start or end with chapter starts or endings. I do this by having "manuscript" selected in compile window and then in the contents tab I se...

Re: Blank spaces added on compile to Word

Good to know. Out of curiosity, what is "keep with next" used for? Also, I asked on other board, if I do a partial compile of a longer manuscript and DO NOT want the placeholder tags to calculate/generate new chapter numbers but instead keep the numbering as it relates to their position in...

Re: Blank spaces added on compile to Word

Mystery solved. I can't believe I didn't catch this. I didn't know Scrivener had a "keep with next" option in the text menu. For some reason there are random sentences in my manuscript--completely random--that have this option selected. I didn't even know this option existed so I don't thi...

Preserving chapter number on a partial compile?

When I do a partial compile, the auto-numbering of chapters (using placeholder tags) begins numbering them as 1, 2, 3, etc rather than preserving the number of the chapter in the larger manuscript (For example: chapter 6 on partial import might come out as 1).

How do you preserve the numbering?

Blank spaces added on compile to Word

When I compile binder for Word, the resulting document has large spaces intermittently at the bottom of pages. There is no section or page break, just a huge gap you can't erase and does not show up as an invisible. After much research I have learned how to solve the problem within the Word document...

Re: A return being added at end of text files

Interesting. Given that, I have been trusting ruler over the "tabs and indents" manual setting. Which would you trust?

Re: A return being added at end of text files

It does seem that changing the zoom percentages makes the ruler markers skip around. I work with Editor at 150%.

Thanks for all the attention.

Re: A return being added at end of text files

To expand. I just set the ruler manually sliding tabs and margins and then redefined my "manuscript" preset. Now if I select text and apply that preset, the tabs and margins are all correct. Problem solved, right? Nope, if I open the tabs and indents formatting window they do not match wha...

Re: A return being added at end of text files

What's interesting is that I didn't drag it into the negative. That's where it is put when I manually enter 0 in the tabs and indents left margin field. I opened a test file blank template and the text file was perfect--ruler and tabs and indents in agreement. But when I applied presets (not just mi...

Re: A return being added at end of text files

I rebuilt the preset and deleted the old one--I don't know how table got in there, but it's gone now! :D Yes, the indent setting is consistent result and it is always off by .01. It is not a sensitivity issue––I am super careful and exact. Here is snapshot of "tab and indent" and the ruler...
