Re: Appstore vs Direct Purchase + Moving from WinScriv

Thanks Amber - amazingly helpful as always :) While I usually import my resources rather than linking to them, I am very definitely sure that one of the things I want to be able to do is synch between Scriv and Aeon Timeline. A forum post over there suggests that the sandboxing from the App store ca...

Appstore vs Direct Purchase + Moving from WinScriv

I'm picking up my first Mac computer tomorrow, and Scrivener is (of course!) on my to-purchase list. Apple provide a $100 credit for the app store for students as part of their educational discount, so I was looking at purchasing it through there. However, I have heard that it is usually better to p...

Re: Mendeley Integration

I think they meant it was counted towards the wordcount in Scrivener when using this referencing system, not towards the word count needed for submission - hence the asking for a way to have the RTF scan notations excluded from the word count.

Wrong Projects Opening On Launch

I understand the correct behaviour is to open all projects that were open on program close/the last project closed. Instead, I'm consistently getting the last project opened . For example: -Open Project A -Open Project B to check something -Close Project B, continue working in Project A -Close Scriv...

Re: [1.5.0.6] Dual Monitors Not Remembered

Issue persists for me with 1.5.1.1, unfortunately, but I haven't been able to figure out what's causing it. Worked around it by downloading and installing DisplayFusion and setting a rule to force Scrivener to open all windows on secondary monitor, but upon disabling DF and testing, projects still d...

Re: Pinboard Card Text and actual content...

The text on the cards - what Scrivener calls the synopsis - is visible in the inspector. Click the blue button with the white i on it (right hand side) to bring it up, and the top section will hold the text. It will update as you click between various scenes in the binder.

Re: Compile pane empty

Sounds a bit like you're in the simplified compile window - try clicking the blue arrow next to 'format as' to expand the window, then make sure everything's ticked as 'include' in the contents section.

Re: Paste Text From A Word Document

- Select text - In the formatting bar, select the line spacing drop down menu (will say something like 1x on it) then select "more" at the bottom. - Reset the right margin to 0. I get this pretty consistently from Word, but luckily it's one of those things I usually only end up doing once ...

Re: [1.5.0.6] Dual Monitors Not Remembered

No, this was just me reporting that the beta no longer reopened on the correct monitor after being dragged to and closed on the secondary monitor, instead defaulting to the primary.

Sorry. Nothing nearly as exciting.

Re: Yet Another Character Sheet

I use them more because they force me to actually clarify and put into words those things about the characters that I probably wouldn't otherwise - and also to give me a place to put down thoughts on things that shape the character but aren't likely to effect the story. I tend to do several passes a...

Yet Another Character Sheet

I pieced together a character sheet from several others that I've seen floating around. It's a lot more detailed than the one that comes pre-packaged with Scriv, and I figured someone else might be interested. Screenshots: Char Sheet 1.png Char Sheet 2.png Note: -the columns seem to be of dynamic wi...

Re: Scrivener Windows Does Not Open Project from MacOS

It sounds like you're using Mac Scrivener 1.x - Windows can only open files saved in Mac Scrivener 2.x, since the filetype had to be redesigned to work crossplatform. If you're moving to Windows, you can download the trial version of Mac 2.x from the website, open your old files in them and it will ...

Re: Insert pictures into ebook

The only other thing I'd mention (since it tripped me up at first) is that the images need to be put into a text document - even if the only thing in that document is the image. You can't just drag image files out of the Research folder into the binder, they need to go into something. :)
