Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

Even if individual path names are only half a dozen characters, having a deep folder structure could add quite a lot of characters. My own complete path to the sync folder and the project to sync, on the Dropbox server, is: Scrivener projects/Scriv active projects/ projectname .scriv ... and the pr...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

Can someone explain why iOS Scrivener can't trigger a Dropbox update of the project all in one go ... WITHOUT making a list of the files? How is it supposed to know what files have changed? Keeping in mind that there may be changes to *both* the local and the server versions, and users expect Dropb...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

There hasn't been a fix for the problem, but it seems it's related to the length of the path for a particular file being synced, and a few people have got around it by shortening filenames and shallowing hierarchies. So, assuming that this hasn't already been mentioned in the last 22 pages, has any...

The process you describe won't be faster than syncing the zip file.

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

Yep - count me in the number effected! So annoying. I've tried all of the suggestions, and they don't work, L&L need to get an update happening pronto to fix this issue... Because without the functionality of syncing - then the app is pointless... Not really. Some people write ONLY on iOS, no n...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

So, how badly does L&L want to fix this problem.... ? Maybe it depends on how many users that are afflicted by it? Is it one per 100 users, or one per 1000 users, or maybe only one in 10 000 users, or even less? We have no idea. Only L&L knows. I doubt Literature & Latte has any idea wh...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

It happens only on iOS 13 and iPadOS, but otherwise, there's no reliable pattern. There has to be a piece of code somewhere in iOS 13, just ONE LINE perhaps, a line used by the Dropbox API, that fails on a random selection of CPUs, many of which SHOULD be identical. Very bizarre. Perhaps it's determ...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

If I had a device exhibiting the problem, I would mail it to Literature & Latte in a heartbeat. Replacing it would be expensive, but I could live with that, and I'd do it for the good of the community.

Can't someone out there do that?

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

Lunk & KillerWhale: Scrivener's sync code isn't broken, as it never existed. Dropbox and other cloud services do synchronization. Scrivener doesn't and never did, so it's hard to imagine "fixing" Literature & Latte sync code in this situation. iOS Scrivener only TRIGGERS the iOS Dr...

No, we don't have a reproduction case. If you think you have one, you're welcome to send the problem project to our support address: mac.support@literatureandlatte.com Katherine I thought you'd already established that a project can exhibit the problem on one device but sync as normal on another de...

IT WORKS FOR ALMOST EVERYONE.

That's why Literature & Latte hasn't SEEN a case of it failing. Until they do, they can't use developer tools to find the problem. Even when they do, they can only report it to Apple.

It's an Apple issue, not a Scrivener issue.

Re: Reset Number Stream to any number, not just one

I figured out how to do it without a new feature. Just put <$w:chapter>-<$w:chapter>-<$w:chapter>-<$w:chapter> in front matter (for the 2nd boxset only) and make the text white.
