Re: Crash when compiling for Kindle

Cool - hope you/Keith get it to work.

The issue you describe is the same as the problem I had after upgrading to ML, but for me it was fixed by the tweak to the System Prefs that I mentioned earlier. Imagine it is something to do with the permission needed for KindleGen to run.

Good luck

Re: Crash when compiling for Kindle

Hi Fangrock Sorry to hear it didn't work. Other compile formats work okay? So it is only the KindleGen that has a problem? I'd be happy to *try* and do the compile for you on my iMac if you're stuck. Would securely delete all the files straight away afterwards. You'd need to detail your compile sett...

Re: Freezes when opening saved project

Thank you so much! This was incredibly helpful. Now my question is how do I delete the problem note in my project without crashing the whole thing again? I've been using scrivener fine for weeks just avoiding clicking on this one note, but I think it's time to take care of it. If I click on the not...

Re: Crash when compiling for Kindle

Hi Fangrock I had a similar error when upgrading KindleGen. Solution for me was in OS X Mountain Lion's security settings. If you use ML, this *might* also resolve your issue. (1) Apple sign  > System Preferences (2) Security & Privacy (3) General (4) Allow applications downloaded from: ANYWHER...

Re: Scrivener for the exploding Android-market?

Most of the industry behemoths and popular apps - Microsoft Word, Google, Firefox - were far from "early birds". And even behemoths can't keep all of their users. I used to use MS Word for 12 to 14 hours every day. I probably use it for about an hour every month now—only when a specific s...

Re: Recover autosave file

Hi Leona If you are on a Mac: (1) Open Scrivener (2) From the menu bar go to Scrivener > Preferences (or type: ⌘,) (3) From the Preference pane, choose the last icon on the top right called Backup (4) At the bottom of that pane it will show where (IF) backup files are saved (5) There is a button und...

Re: small cosmetic suggestion

Hi Mortimer Have you tried selecting: view > use label colour in > icons …and deselecting: view > use label colour in > binder zz 2013-01-25 at 14.12.27.png I appreciate that this doesn't highlight the text, but it does give a fairly clean colour highlighting system— and you can choose your own colo...

Re: Newbie learning how to write non-fiction.

You can do what you want in terms of files/folders and build a structure that works for you. I use a folder for a chapter (the folder name becomes the chapter title when compiled at the end of the writing process), and files for each scene. (You can right click a file/folder and convert it as you wa...

Re: Blank Page

Hi Keith

Many thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

I have got the 'compile as-is' option selected, but in both Kindle and iBooks the blank pages appear in the TOC.

See screen grab attached.

Any other ideas very welcome ;-)

Happy New Year!

Blank Page

Hi

Have searched for an answer to this sans luck.

If I insert a blank page (<$BLANK_PAGE>) into a project and then compile it as ePub/Mobi I get the blank page I want (yippee) but it also lists the "Blank Page" in the index/TOC.

Anyway to stop it doing that?

TIA

Re: Placing a table

Hi Johnro I believe the table tool in Scrivener (on a Mac / OS X) utilises the table tool found in TextEdit (when used in RTF mode). I believe that this does not have the ability to align tables. As a workaround, you can add columns to the left and right of your table, and then set their cell border...
