I'm surprsied nobody has mentioned open office

It handles long documents It handles footnotes It handles endnotes Now under X-11 it is NOT as stable as on a windows or Linux environment But it is free Oh and I'd stay away from the MAC version... way, waaaayyyyy too beta and unstable and I could not find silly things like oh, footnotes, index or ...

Good, I was wondering what was the deal

no problem... export to word and use the WIN machine to print... Hell should do that soon, and let you know if WORD '07 does this well. You'd be amazed at some of the bugs I found while processing the last things in the Manual.... :roll: There are days I want to chuck that gaming machine... but hey....

I write RPG books

and the last one is about to go to bed... and the next project is now in the front burner So it will be used to plan an equipment guide, as well as my biannual magazine... in fact the short story for the mag just started. But the way the material is put together... is definitely ideal for RPG books ...

Then here is my work around

font, colors, and just use a different color for the changes. It works.... :D And requires zero programing Yes, I am spoiled but I always find a way around and after readying your explanation, yes I get it Heck, could just use my full blown word processor that tracks it, and copy and paste No biggie...

yes, I know, have gotten spoiled by word and other word processors that have this feature. There are work arounds it, but that would be great.
