Re: How Secure Are Cloud Services

Thanks for all the good scoop on this security thing.
The comment regarding relying on a single password is probably a significant item also.

Re: How Secure Are Cloud Services

Thanks for all the good thoughts folks.
I guess I used an old coffee can in the garden for so long it is tough to take up these new fangled ways.
But, with all this good advice I bet it'll get done sooner or later.

Thanks All

Re: How Secure Are Cloud Services

Yup, trust is becoming more and more of a costly item. I thinned out an acquaintance some time back with a USB key displayed on a desk. I wondered who had certain info so loaded the key but also put a bit of some semi liquid adhesive they use in the shop on it. He picked it up but could not turn loo...

How Secure Are Cloud Services

It is interesting to follow along and noticing where folks have problems losing or misplacing their data. It also appears that many issues are tracked to the use of cloud services. Scary at best... My question is: How secure are these services, like Cubby*, Dropbox, Box, Sugarsync, etc. and is there...

Back to good ole MS Word

Ya just gotta revert to Word from time to time depending on who's back need scratching. I hope to set up some additional systems for myself and others using free Word alternatives. The ones that come readily to mind are WPS Office and the various renditions of Open Office. I have not really looked i...

Nuther image questiojn

When importing, pasting or dragging an image into the document screen it lands about 12-20 lines below the current text.
Not sure what I missed but this looks cornie and takes up a lot of real estate.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Importing tables

Well, finally jury rigged the thing to at least get the data into Scrivener. I found the list and copy/pasted directly into a clean Word page then copy/pasted into Scrivener. The result was a table of sorts but more a columned page. At least it is useable until I find how to do it correctly. I feel ...

Re: Importing tables

Yes, I tried the copy and paste thing but no cigar. Oddly, regardless of what method I use or what format the result is the same one column. I do not have the original word list at hand so cannot work at getting it copied into Scrivener. Not sure how to import a list into Scrivener. Sorely miss the ...

Importing tables

Not a new topic of course but this does not work for me. Using latest version of Scrivener on Win 7. This list was imported into a Word table for starters and saved as RTF file as well as DOCX with the same result. Have done the Tools>Options>Converter thing in Scrivener. The table is merely a large...

Re: Writer's research forums ?

Would like to see this bumped as the research needs for info is often quite varied and unrelated. My quest is for timeline facts pertaining to areas as they were in the 1960's. Specifically, I am interested in the business communities of Hamilton and Missoula Montana in the mid '60's. Info which see...

Re: Should I change from OneNote to EverNote

Well, as the original OP I have enjoyed following along and was surprised to see this topic re-emerge. I am involved in several unrelated writing and research projects with much unrelated data to coordinate, edit, sort and store. My conclusion for me is to keep EverNote for daily sorting, OneNote fo...

Re: Corkboard entries in Binder Again

Actually when selecting the timeline items individually they only show up in synopsis. Selecting the folder opens all in Corkboard.

Corkboard entries in Binder Again

Just opened up an older project and find many entries in the Binder>Research folder that have the Corkboard icon and show up as a synopsis. Another instance is subfolder that is a daily timeline that covers a whole month one entry at a time. They will open singly or the whole subfolder will display ...
