Toolbar icons: 1 'sort; and 2, custom

Currently, whenever wanting to sort keywords or text files and/or folders, one has to implement a series of time-consuming steps on the menu, namely: Edit ▸ Move ▸ Sort Ascending|Descending menu commands In the next version of S3, would it be possible please to have two dedicated icons on the toolba...

Re: Dropbox and back-up

Noted, thank you. Having continued experimenting, I realise now that the draft and trash folders are a product of having used (erroneously) external sync. In which I might as well delete those folders now that I am not using external sync. Please confirm I understand correctly: 1.0 To use S on my ip...

Dropbox and back-up

I have to be in the mood to understand which means that when I'm not even the simplest thing can take a while to sink in! (As for being interested, when i'm not even the simplest thing washes over me.) After playing around with the sync via Dropbox (so I can strain my eyesight using S on my iphone),...

Re: Trash folder in Dropbox

Thank you. By "origin is uncertain" do you mean that the file might or would never be synced, or would the next sync include it in the Draft folder.

Trash folder in Dropbox

Project file is synced to my dedicated folder in Dropbox, also separate back-up onto my desktop. (Time Machine thereafter.) The Dropbox folder contains the project file and two sub-folders: Draft and Trashed Files. I cannot see the point of keeping Trashed Files. Is it okay for me to delete all the ...

Re: Keywords or text for cross-referencing

I've experimented with the FindByFormatting: highlight in colour. I have come up against a point that someone else has posted on, namely that the default colours in S do not necessarily sync with the system colours. Which would mean making a note of the RGB or hex numbers for any of the colours I us...

Keywords sorting

I appreciate that some users prefer to sort keywords as required. But for those of us that would find it immensely useful to have the option for keywords to be sorted automatically, I wish! Sorting as required involves a lot of time: one has to be very disciplined to ensure for example, stra precede...

Keywords or text for cross-referencing

This isn't a technical support question, so much as a question on the best way to achieve what I want and whether there is any 'good practice' recommendation. I want to use S (v.3.0.10) for my law library. Currently, the library is spread across different apps: a database whose layout I created usin...

Re: Scrivener is way more difficult than I expected

I'd never describe my occupation as a writer, but I suppose I must be, churning out as I do some 20,000-50,000 words a week, sometimes 20,000 in a couple of days. Since I bought my first word-processor in the early 1980s, I've trialled numerous word processing software (apps now called) all of which...

A long term but occasional Scrivener user, I am considering using S as a reference manager for my specialist law library. (I've considered Bookends, Sente and other dedicated reference managers but they are too scientific-research oriented for my needs.) This question may have been asked/answered be...

Sort - suggestions please

For a local history society I've founded, I'm researching information and writing content for its website. Also, I've been commissioned to write/author a book with photos about the town as one of a national series of books along the same lines. I know that the Sort command only works either on the r...

Re: Sort

Noted, thank you. Using System Preferences, as you suggest, I have added Scrivener to applications and then assigned a keyboard shortcut for Sort and it's now shown on menu but it won't work because I can't see how to specify Sort >Ascending. It would be appreciated please if you would provide step-...

Sort

Any chance please of including a Sort icon on the toolbar, also with a Preference option for Ascending. Descending and Shuffle? I find it a real fiddle to have to click Documents>Sort>Ascending every time I add a new item or folder to a project, which I do frequently. Manually re-ordering is not sat...
