Re: New option: increment placeholder counters for selective compile as if whole document is being compiled.

Mmmmm, not sure but this is starting to sound as if it's leaning ever-so-slightly towards a 'no'. :D Fair enough; it does sound like it would be quite difficult, especially for something that I don't think many people would make use of. I think printing the whole document and cutting it up is one op...

New option: increment placeholder counters for selective compile as if whole document is being compiled.

So that you can have Chapter two, headed as 'Chapter two' even if it's the first document exported in your selection.

Priority: the world won't crack in two without it.

Re: Affinity Publisher! It’s alive! ALIVE!

If you're interested, Affinity has announced that they're ready to start beta testing … soonish.

'Before the end of August' probably means 31st August.

Re: I want to compile just a small part of my novel

The more I think about it the more I’m not sure filtering ever worked that way, and I must have just contrived a test that reflected that reality poorly. In considering the primary role of the feature, as a way of removing parts of the draft that do not pertain to the output material, if it did ret...

Re: I want to compile just a small part of my novel

Hmm, it could be this behaviour has changed, or perhaps the test I ran back when I answered it gave misleading results. At any rate it appears the single-folder selection method is the only way to produce a correctly numbered fragment at the moment. Yes, and it seems to only work for a single chapt...

Yes, that would work, and fiddling with the structure isn't too difficult.

Re: Option to allow a document suffix for compiling a selection.

Glad you found it! Ah, nearly, but not quite. Seems to be one of those either/or situations. If I set to compile the selection as a complete document, then it's numbered from chapter one, but I lose the end of document marker at the end. If I select a single chapter and compile it, then I have the ...

Re: I want to compile just a small part of my novel

Hi there. Sorry to wake up a dead thread, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting this bit to work. I think I've followed the instructions: Screen Shot 2018-07-15 at 20.49.18.png But the second chapter I've selected is still being numbered as Chapter One. I was expecting it to come out as Chapter Tw...

Re: Option to allow a document suffix for compiling a selection.

Okay, we can drop this one. Turns out it's not needed. There's a compile option that appears when you compile a section of the document: [x] Treat compile group as complete document Selecting this will compile the group as if it were the whole book, which means the document suffix appears at the ver...

Just tried the changes in 3.03.

Works like a charm. Great work. Thank you.

Option to allow a document suffix for compiling a selection.

Hello. At the moment (if I have this right), the document suffix only appears if you compile the whole manuscript. It might be handy to have an option of adding the suffix for partial compiles. Why? Well, if you just submit bits of the manuscript for review (I'm in a writing group), then it's handy ...

Re: Workflow recommendations with Vellum

Tips and usage for workflow to Vellum for ebook and print book publishing, but continuing to edit in Scrivener would be greatly appreciated. Mostly focusing on how to format so exporting to .docx to "reimport word file" and retain all pertinent "categories" like chapter headings...

Re: Interoperability between Scrivener and Vellum

Okay, so looking at that, it seems that Vellum will detect certain styles based on their names - they have to use the "Vellum" prefix, though, such as "Vellum Block Quote" and "Vellum Attribution". Based on that, I've aded a new option to 3.0.3 that allows you to overr...

Re: Interoperability between Scrivener and Vellum

That's useful information, thanks. I'll have a play with their .docx export - does it not recognise styles or anything like that? Does it recognise verse or fixed blocks at all in .docx? And yes, I did indeed see the Scrivener icon in the Mac App Store part of the demo - I was quite pleased with th...
